The squad has been stripped of so much talent we're now left with players who might be good in their own right but do not have a competitive edge. We used to be 1 or 2 players short from being very competitive, now we are at least 4 or 5 away.

Well about 60%+ of these call it for what it is (wilshere being a weak link) http://arsenal-mania.com/forum/viewt...p?f=2&t=308742
But nah lets listen to the motd watchers over at redcafe :haha:
But im impressed at that thread. Accurate analysis taking precedence over the blind worship of a child. We need to be more like them friends.
Nope. I don;t like him on the right, but in DM he is improving. Once a scapegoat always a scapegoat, though.
Another point is that Ramsey, like Oxlade is IMO suffering from the manager's lack of coaching skills, and the fact that there are few decent senior players to learn from.
Whatever it is with Ramsey, he hurts the team. We need a player who can retain possession under pressure and in tight spaces. Not somebody who is immediately thinking of the pass back before the ball comes near him. It's his first instinct to be negative. And he dwells on the ball too often getting into trouble. No doubt he tries, you can see that. But he doesn't have the tools. Whether it's a mental thing or he really has just regressed as a footballer I don't know, but I don know he shouldn't be on the pitch. Of course the same could be said for most of them, but few are as consistently poor.
I have just read the thread and most are not saying Wilshere is a weak link but that it's an unbalanced midfield with both Cazorla and Wilshere in the centre. Which even I agree with and have been saying. Some are saying we need a better CDM/DM than Arteta and some are saying it's a matter of size and getting physically over-run.
The whole 'going against the grain' stuff has been done to far greater effect. Last season you were talking about how the rest of the team were carrying Cesc, how he's a fraud and basically a forward that Flamini carried. Today you say the opposite. To improve I think you need to defend and keep track of your "Gervinho has already proved he's better than Nasri" car-crashes. Because the key to being a know it all is consistent consistency consistently - especially if you're going to criticise others for inconsistency. e.g. who have changed from supporting-to-criticising the Vermaelen captaincy decision, say.
Cesc a fraud? You dont have to lie friend.
He was essentially a forward who didnt pull his weight defensively. Its just by some quirk flamini was able to do the work of two men (notice I said that earlier, and yeah it is a dig at cesc). But flaminis are more rare than people thing. Plus hes never matched that season before and since.
We then pushed fab into the AM role and then he put up beastly numbers because he had world class passing/vision. Tell me about these contradictions?
Wilshere has more natual tenacity than cesc and less passing ability/vision. we should be able to turn him into an effective workhorse midfielder/goon. a more technical version of lee cattemole. I remember capello tried to get him to hold but the press wouldnt let him  id love capello as our manager.
oh and nasri is trash and hated in manchester. A so called small club sees through nothing players way quicker than us. best deal wenger ever did getting rid.
"correct. practically a centre-forward. a position he could never get away with in a good league."
"Yep, honestly fabregas was always an overrated player. Players who can pass well and thats it are a dime a dozen on the continent. Its just we're not used to it in this country."
"this fraud got called out on his headless-chickenness within 6 weeks. just shows how clueless the average fan is really (how many arsenal fans called him the best midfielder in the world while he was here?"
"yep, ramsey seems so and arteta and wilshere definitely are more rounded players and we will be better for it. we already seem much more solid now players have settled.
"if we can add a stellar, specialist number 10 type player such as a gotze, erikksen, ozil type we will be flying (rather than shunting a CM forward who wasnt a natural in that role like we did with cesc simply because he couldnt cut it anywhere else)"
were all said by you. And it's fine to go against what you've been saying. I'm guessing everyone changes their opinions at some point. But if you're going to be so critical of others for the same sort of thing it doesn't really add up.
We'd have Nasri here right now as a wide player over Gervinho. Much of the problems with building moves and momentum would be helped if we can pass the ball forward to players who can keep it.Quote:

thats alot of quotes but youre not really breaking down the actual contradictions. using powerful terms is not contradiction. The mistake I made was assuming arsenal could develop young players like ramsey and wilshere to their full potential
As for cesc, yeah, hes overrated and has been called out in barca for his lack of tactical nous. and you know hes been dropped right? people said hes the best AM the world, well, hes proving that impossible right now. just because hes too good for us doesnt suddenly make him a truely top player.
Youre rushing to find quotes but youre failing to join the dots. Breathe friend.
Nasri is shit and will be back in france on loan next year. Only tippy-tappy obsessed arsenal fans could think otherwise.
I'm (almost) with you on Cesc. But this isn't the point. If you're not seeing the contradictions, it's because you don't want to. You've just said you made a mistake, which in this case means you said something but now feel differently. You're effectively having to create levels between 'shit' and 'shit'. A player who is 'dime-a-dozen on the continent' but also a 'world class passer' who can notch up 'beastly numbers'. Even supposing Nasri's shit, is Gervinho really any better? Because you're not forced into commenting on these things, you're trying to avoid where (unbelievably!) you've got it wrong. You're just like us, my friend - the same idiots you criticise.
