Arsenal make first move to re-sign Barcelona ace
Premier League side Arsenal have taken the first steps to re-signing Alex Song, who left the Emirates last summer for Barcelona.
The Cameroonian midfielder has struggled to force his way into the starting eleven at Barca and has played second fiddle to the likes of Sergio Busquets and Thiago Alcantara, alongside Xavi and Andres Iniesta in midfield.
The 25-year-old, who left Arsenal for £15m is now very much considered for a summer exit and Inside Spanish Football understands that representatives from the North London club have made first contact with the Catalan club.
The Catalans would seemingly be willing to allow Song to leave this summer and it is thought that a fee of just around £12m would be enough for Arsene Wenger to re-sign the defensive midfielder.
Song made his feelings of emotion for Arsenal known before he left for Barca, saying:
“I had been trying for eight months to start talking about a new long-term deal but the club kept postponing me all the time, saying “You have three years left.
“I hadn’t talked about money – I just wanted to sit down and discuss a new deal. I wanted to commit my career to the club I loved.”
French Ligue 1 side Paris Saint Germain have also shown interest but it is likely Song would choose a return to Arsenal.
Seems the Song rumour has been gathering its fair bit of momentum the last few days.
