I don't buy that tbh. Defence is yet again the biggest problem area and afaik we are only trying to flog Almunia/Denilson/Bendtner so why can't we strengthen the defence.
Besides the trouble is no one wants our dead wood so waiting for them to go is a very dangerous game to play.
I honestly think thats it, no more new players coming.
I'm probably wrong, but I get the feeling we're pretty much maxed out on our, albeit self-imposed, wage structure. It could be that we need the likes of Alumnia and Bendtner off the books before the club is willing to agree to releasing the wages required for a new signing?
I reckon we'll see another defender come in, aside from that it depends on who goes imo. Cesc or Nasri leaving will see a replacement coming in, be it like-for-like or just another big-ish player coming in for the money.
Biggest mistake so far this summer is not buying a LB, when Gibbs is out for 4 months and we have to move Vermalen there as Traore is shit it'll fall apart, mark my words.
Risky strategy if you ask me, Vermaelen back from a long term injury (you never know how those turn out), Gibbs is as injury prone as they get....then there's Traore who hasn't really impressed.
I'm not convinced a defender is on his way, which make losing a left back even worse as it might mean shifting Vermaelen across and finding someone to fill the gap.
Tell you what. Early days, but Jenkinson looks exactly what we need. No nonsense, tough and strong. Really impressed with him on his debut.
Yep, he's a big fella and committed, two things we're in need of atm.
