We should have won and we didn't start playing again until we were losing.

Whole thing stinks of gambling syndicates. Doubt any ref is biased for one team in the same way Riley was for Utd, it will be more down to which result pays out the most. Arsenal vs Villa would be a great game to influence for several reasons and there's no doubt that ref was on the take. Not in the big decisions (he was just semi-competent there), but in the small stuff that can tip a game over the 90 minutes. As it turns out they needn't have bothered because we were shit anyway.
Is he being demoted, though? Or is it that he was appointed a 4th official for a particular game, on a particular day, decided long ahead of time, as per norm for all refs?

Only interesting thing from the Tim Payton interview that wasn't David Cameron style PR bollocks to try and paint the AST as effective and on the ball was the revelation that, our new chairman, "Sir Chips Keswick" is on holiday. Missed the game on Saturday and is still on holiday despite the fallout since then.
Just sums it up really.
Though I do agree with him about not having footballing people on the board and missing the input of Carr, Dein and Fizsman who were more in touch with what was going on the pitch.
To be fair i don't really see what people expect from the AST, this guy getting emotional having a go at Tim Peyton i agree with much of what he was saying but sounds like he has a reputation as being a miserabalist who will complain about something even when the club are doing well (and as John Cross rightly said someone like him is the lifeblood of supporters because we don't want cheerleaders who go along with anything) and i read a lot of the AST statements and you can't really find fault with what he is saying.
And people accuse him of being a "propagandist" for the club because he ask supporters to be patient well to be fair i didn't see a lot wrong with that there is no point in screaming blue murder about the lack of signings in July if there was still a chance signings would have been made by August.
People who go on about David Dein as well, yes i don't think things would be quite as bad as they are now but i still can't help but feel they are crying for the moon, this club has always been tight as long as i have been alive no matter who the manager was.
Maybe the screaming is required to get the club to do anything at all? It's not just that though, people have been saying be patient since June but who really discounted the possibility we'd end up in mid August with nothing? I think any sort of understanding just gets abused and an inch given will rapidly be stretched to a mile.
