Nothing directly. If he wasn't sure about the integrity or the experience of the ref, just refer to him as the 'referee'.

However, to continuously refer to him by nationality- well, I'd be aghast if I was Turkish, and deeply offended.

(Just to point out,it was the manner in which he was saying it, e.g. "Chelsea should have known what to expect, the 98,000 fans, the Turkish ref...." etc)
