Gordon Taylor's ability to make the wrong call and discredit the game knows no bounds
He's clearly failed to get some kind of deal done behind closed doors which could have saved face all round, instead taking a stubborn public attitude which has brought all the criticism down on his members, he should have been forced out about ten years ago but Wenger-like has created an empire around himself that no-one's managed to bring down
Oh it's for our benefit the wages are so high.
Silly us.
It feels like a valid argument, but not when clubs like spuds are taking money away from the nhs by putting their staff on furlough to be paid for by err, the public
And the players have already lost the public through Taylor's stubbornness and inaction
Ultimately it's the fans fault. Or some of the fans, now that many original fans who were there in the days when players were seen as mere mortals have been eased out for a more affluent class of folk. No standing, no swearing, no talking, just hand over your wallet. If you keep feeding a voracious pig with an eating disorder it will eat itself to death. The fans can take care of all of this when the crisis is over. But they won't. They'll go right back to chucking money in the pit, even though lives have been transformed for hundreds of thousands (or even millions) who pay the long terms costs of this crisis and could do with the largesse more urgently.
You can't really blame the diseased pig for stuffing itself. It's a shocking and undignified sight, but everybody knows what football really is and millions are prepared to accept it.
NQ is right, tbh for once.
It is the fans’ fault.
Even when things have been really shitty over the last few seasons, not just results but zero effort, zero entertainment from these overpaid wankers who we all know will odd off the first time someone waves an even bigger truck of money at them.
Even then my FB feed was full of people falling over themselves to go to games and shovel more money in their direction.
If you’re still filling the stadium, or close enough, there’s no need to change a thing.
Don't agree, most of you seem to follow the club from a distance, so you forget that actually going to football is a big part of some people's social lives and in some cases a part of someone's life for decades, so the club has you by the short and curlies, it's down to them to act responsibly with people's commitment.
Also don't forget that fans not turning up was what did for wenger, so the fans do act, at the moment they have (some) faith with arteta so why not give him some backing, yes players wages are insane but hopefully we might see a correction in that as a result of the virus, as people simply won't be able to afford to go unless football reigns itself in
Taylor is doing his job. It's not a respectable job and it's far from being an essential one, as we can now clearly see. But that's the job this horrible little man is overpaid to do. And, give him credit, he's over delivering as usual.
What's happening is football, and sport in general, is being revealed in terms of its real place in society, as opposed to the marketed positioning. There are no heroes in sport, with a very few notable exceptions such as Senna, for example. But we all have a degree of free choice and most of us will go back to misplacing sport in the priority of things. And Taylor (or some other suitable facsimile of a human being) will carry on representing the fake heroes to the best of his/her/its ability.
I won't though. I was having to force myself to care about football and F1 and now I think I'll save myself the effort and redirect it somewhere more useful.
Oh now listen to this cunt
