He lies!Quote:
"It looks very unlikely," Wenger said regarding the prospect of bringing any new faces in this month. "It is 23 January today and at the moment I must say we are not close to doing anything. I feel a bit guilty always going to a press conference during the transfer market and having nobody to announce (as a signing) but I don't want to lie."
On verge of double strike in transfer window.
This is more like it!Quote:
First up and talkSPORT are carrying quotes from an agent who claims he is close to finalising a deal with Arsenal for the signings of Nigerian youngsters Musa Yahaya and Chidera Ezeh. The pair put in some impressive displays as Nigeria won the Under-17 World Cup in November 2013 and it seems they caught the eye of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger. Yahaya is a 16-year-old left winger who was one of the stars of the tournament, scoring four goals in four games, while Ezeh is a young striker who bagged one goal and is highly-rated in his homeland.
According to those in the know:
This is the one source on the planet quoting the EUR45mill deal with all other sources repeating. Mind you, they were first to break the news we'd signed Higuain. Which we almost did, until we didn't.Quote:
I don't think Italian paper Tuttomercato has ever got a story right
The Arse sign Draxler for 45 million Euro's in January? Well I'll be damned!.......if true....
It would make quite a mockery of our pathological reciting of the 'but who would be available' line.......Quite a lot for that money, one would think.
Mourinho admits selling Mata and De Bruyne puts them in a better position for FFP regulations.
Strangely they actually have a higher revenue than us (we seem to have dropped down the list a bit)
1. Real Madrid: 518.9m euros
2. Barcelona: 482.6m euros
3. Bayern Munich: 431.2m euros
4. Man Utd: 423.8m euros
5. Paris Saint Germain; 398.8m euros
6. Manchester City: 316.2m euros
7. Chelsea: 303.4m euros
8. Arsenal: 284.3m euros
9. Juventus: 272.4m euros
10. AC Milan: 263.5m euros
This doesn't take into account the new improved sponsorship deal we've just signed with Emirates or the basically all but confirmed new deal with Puma. We've also just signed a deal with Huawei which is probably worth a few bob and I imagine they'll be a few more similar deals to follow now that our stock is very high.
With signifacntly higher matchday receipts than Chelsea and City, we should overtake them soon now that we're finally plugging up the commerical revenue gap. We might even overtake Utd in a few years if they completely fall by the wayside and all the sponsers abandon them in droves though that's very unlikely.
Basically the future is bright. It's red and white.
Nor can we use the "creative accounting" techniques that Man City, PSG and to a lesser extent Chelsea employ, to artifically boost our revenue figures.
I mean selling the naming rights for obscene figures or charging a ridicolous amount for one stadium box which just convienently happens to be the one which the owner buys.
It's really a testament to the overall health of the club that we've consistently featured so high despite having some of the lousiest commerical deals around for a big club. I think Liverpool and the Scum have had higher commercial deals despite being shit and outside of the CL for so long.
Speaking of commerical activites anyone know when our summer tour will get announced? We did the Far East last season so I'm hoping for somewhere new this time. There was a planned trip to Nigeria a couple of seasons ago which got cancelled because of security concerns. Middle East perhaps? We're quite big there.
Have we signed him yet....
I used to love the low key affairs of the Austrian summer excursions -
At 1 game in 2001, I got to -
Greeted AW getting off team bus - wished him luck with contract negotiations
Wished Sol Campbell good luck at success at club
Chatted with Bob Wilson on sidelines over a game we won at Anfield
Sat next and chatted with Sven Goran Eriksen in stands
Pretty full day
Fuck that man, we're so big around the world we might as well exploit that for all it's worth. It's the only way we can even stand a chance of being able to compete with the oil giants. It's great that Wenger finally agreed to them alongside the car seat sponsorship.
I'd much rather see a horde of passionate Malaysian or Indian fans screaming and fainting just because they got to see Carl Jenkinson live and hilarious videos like this.

Quote from Mourinho on the BBC:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25882972Quote:
Meanwhile, the Blues boss criticised his Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger for saying that Mata's proposed move to United raises questions about the fairness of the January transfer window.
Mourinho said: "Wenger complaining is normal, he always does. But when a player plays for a club on 20 August and then on 5 September plays for a different club this is normal. This is the market.
"If Wenger sold Mesut Ozil to Manchester United I would be happy because they are losing a very important player, like we are with Juan, but this is his nature."
They are losing are very important player!? Then why the fuck do you just not sell him? :D Seriously i hate that guy. He came back to the premier league saying he was going to be more respectful, etc. And here he is talking shit about a Wenger, who actually got a good point on the Mata sale.
Btw he should check his facts before talking shit about Wenger thinking its normal to buy a player late in the transfer window, Wenger has said many times that he think the transfer window should close before the league starts.
Mourinho is a shit sometimes but he took it easy on Wenger. If I were him or one of the journalists, I’d have taken Wenger to school on the fact that he’s sold his best players to the last three Prem League title winners. He could have laughed it off and said this is coming from the Man that sold RVP to Man Utd, their captain and last season’s top goal scorer. Wenger may have a point and it may be a cynical and strategic move on Chelsea’s part, but they have a valid excuse. They need to comply with the FFP rules, raise revenue and Mata is a player Mourinho doesn’t use. I’m suspicious of Jose but Wenger is the wrong guy to question it.
Wenger made a point of saying Chelsea aren't doing anything wrong because they don't make the rules. He also said it wasn't tactical on their part. I.e. He wasn't blaming Chelsea at all. He has always been opposed to the idea of the January transfer window and this is one of the reasons why. At no point is he saying clubs shouldn't use the window. Like Pulis, Pardew etc. Mourinho just wants a bit more attention. Some people are like that.
Wenget and Mourinho just don't like each other, never have done and never will.
Wenger made this point weeks ago and should have probably left it at that. His recent point about Mata is slightly absurd.
We could sign Draxler (go with me here) and teams who have to play us a second time could complain that teams who have already played us twice didn't have to face Draxler........but that would be rather silly.
In fairness to Wenger it was mainly the part where he said 'why didn't they sell him last week' that made him sound silly. Why on earth would Chelsea sell him in time for him to face Chelsea. Nobody in Chelsea's position would do that, not least of all ourselves.
The special one will always bite though.....he's built like that.
The rules are there, everyone can do whatever they like as long as they follow the rules, nothing to talk about to be honest, Wenger always has something to say though.
If Chelsea want to sell half their squad and replace it in January that's entirely up to them, I hope we sign someone this January because we need to.
The whole Mata thing has been a fiasco, when we clearly fucked ourselves by bidding 40 million and 1 quid. We 'thought' we found a loop hole in the rule and played it. Chelsea did the same. STFU and concentrate on your team should be our mantra tbh.. WUMger got owned here!
Not really.
Wenger's complaint wasn't directed at Mourinho, Chelsea or Mata. He's been consistent with regards his criticism of the transfer window. It's Mourinho who's been disrespectful by making personal attacks, as usual.
Hateful, spiteful, disgrace of a man. We're lucky we have a man in charge who is full of integrity.
And we probably could have had the bitey racist for 50 million....
