Speaking of Joe Hart, Manchester City goalkeeping legend Joe Corrigan has his own theory about why the England keeper has been somewhat sloppy of late. And no, it's not down to him losing concentration, or believing the hype that followed his performance against Borussia Dortmund in September that saw him hailed the best keeper in the world.
Corrigan told BBC Sportsweek that goalkeeper Joe Hart's error in letting Rickie Lambert's shot squirm from his grasp and allowing Steve Davis to score Saints' second goal in their 3-1 win can partly be attributed to the fact he rolls up his sleeves.
"Joe is a brilliant keeper, but what I cannot understand, and nobody has ever explained to me, is why with the ball being as shiny and moving so much, do goalkeeper wear short-sleeve shirts?" Corrigan says on BBC Radio 5 Live.
"They have these new rubber latex gloves at one end of their arm and then they have skin between there and the shirt, which creates another slippery surface.
"If you look at the [Southampton] goal from behind, it shows the ball hit Joe in the area which was not covered by the goalkeeping shirt, so situations like this will happen."
