So...is Hamilton really that good? The minute someone else has a better car he can't win for toffees.
This is the problem I have with F1, for me sport should be about human endeavour, but F1 is a weird mix of technology and driver.
I'm sure Hamilton is a good driver, but if he's got a better car than the others then that's got to help, and if this season he doesn't then obviously that's going to hamper him.
In brief: give 'em all the same car, then we'll see who's actually the best at it.

well yes, but i think the entire premise is to some extent to promote/highlight the car manufacturing side which is why they also have the constructors' championship

everyone knows the car plays a part, but the F1 powers-that-be do level things up a bit don't they technology wise?

There are plenty of racing series where they all have the same car. From karting up to GP2.

Hamilton won all those championships before he got to F1.

They're all good drivers - have to be or they'd be dead. But Hamilton is the most hyped in the history of the sport. Like so many modern day "greats" he's devalued the sport and the record books. The woke brigade will remember him as great, but he wouldn't appear in the top ten of any true fan of motor sport. F1 long since transitioned from its roots of on the edge competition and the pinnacle of speed into a shoddy money printing vehicle for a few greedy bastards, much like football. Hamilton has been the poster boy for that decline.
