I know how it works, for sure. They pluck a figure every season. I'm not saying the £20mill is the real figure, I'm saying it's worrying the media guesstimate has gone down. I'd expect them to be saying Wenger has a £120mill kitty or something in that region, as they usually go with whatever makes the biggest headline. £20mill sounds very reserved for the media. Makes me wonder if the real budget is £17.50.

Wenger has said he's looking to bring in one or two players. In this article and others. We know he won't bring in an attacking first team player so that figure comes from the going rate for a DM since we've just found out Arteta is out for 3 months.

Which raises another, horrifying, issue. If it has taken Arteta to get injured for him to seriously talk about signings does it mean he thinks this squad would be good enough if Arteta had stayed fit?

Of course. Just last week he said we wouldn't need new signings if everyone was fit. It's not a shock. We went into the season with no backup CB and we'd have no back up striker if Giroud didn't do us a favour and get injured.

Wenget says we are looking at defenders and didn't deny when asked about Winston Reid.

He neither denied or confirmed and he will do something if it is possible. Unfortunately it is not possible in January. Also Diaby can play there.
