I don't even think he's that talented by the current German or Dortmund standards. But he just doesn't stop sprinting. It's like having 2 players in 1. And his hit and hopes seem to have a better success rate.
He's not as creative as Özil but still has the ability to pick the right pass when darting forward.

BFG comfortably their number one defender. They always defend better with him in the team and he's nearing 100 caps for one of the best international teams. He's tank-like, error-prone, lamp post-esque, the slowest man to ever step foot on Earth. Yet he's he's a first choice defender for a top club and country.
His only negative trait is that he can't tap up his fellow countrymen and former club mates. Thankfully, we have Wenger.
