The 15 minute cities thing has got you too, eh?
Do I think it’s a massive conspiracy to keep people contained as part of an all encompassing evil conspiracy? No
Do I think there’s far better ways to do civic planning that don’t lend themselves to dystopian fear mongering? Yes
For me, I generally prefer the carrot to the stick approach. By all means make everything accessible within a short distance of where you live, but don’t compound that with roaming charges enforced by technology.
Is he seen as shifty? I think he’s just seen as bland.
Now that’s a policy we can all agree with!Quote:
Increased wages in the public sector
I had a discussion about this with someone on FB. Not some rando, a FB friend. She’s a “woman of colour” and has a massive chip on her shoulder about the whole issue of race. She was going on about stop and search being racial profiling. So I downloaded the data on people who were stopped, because you can.Quote:
stop being afraid to do stop and search. Oh it’s racial profiling?
It is overwhelmingly young people who are stopped, no one is whining about ageism.
It is overwhelmingly men who are stopped, no one is whining about sexism.
So yes, it is mostly young, black men who are stopped. And everyone knows why, you’re just not allowed to say it.
Oh he is definitely seen as shifty
You’ve got to think he won the Labour leadership contest by being a Corbyn tribute act on public spending and other shit
Now he treats Corbyn like a bad penny. Now for me this is absolutely the right thing to do, but why would you trust someone who was more than prepared to serve in a Corbyn cabinet if that scabby old goat got into No 10
What does Starmer actually believe? He’s been all over the shop on Gender woo woo
The only thing I could say for sure that he’s pro police because of his time as DPP.
But on Israel? Fair weather friend as soon as the cranks turn the dial up
He’s dialled back all his promises on public spending because he’s worried that the Tories will say he’s profligate with spending. Yet the irony is, it’s what the public want. They want more money on infrastructure, policing, healthcare etc.
Yeah and you’re not alone in thinking that
You are right to describe him as dull but when we’ve had a charismatic grifter like Johnson I don’t really consider that a negative
Sunak’s problem is that his wealth makes him out of touch. The Tories have embraced this rather contemptible attitude that people on benefits lead this super comfortable lifestyle and that benefit fraud is rife.
I’m not particularly pro benefits because a) it strips away dignity from the individual and b) like with universal credit and working tax credits it’s the taxpayer subsidising greedy employees who should be paying a wage we can live on.
I think people with disability should work where possible, not because I think they are lazy but because I think it’s idleness that leads to mental health problems. I see it in my work, people who want to feel like they are contributing to society and living independent lives. If you take that away from people, no matter what the reason like with universal basic income you create a permanent underclass and you exacerbate the social problems that already exist in this country.
But we need to make people understand that the old industries are dead and won’t be coming back.
Guess that bastard invited his relatives over for the week and that swung the vote. Bet they cooked for 2 million in the living room. If you know what I mean.
I don’t understand what you think that has to do with anything
This secret puppet master pulling the strings is rather boring and unimaginative . If you’re saying Sunak is beholden to party donors for policy again overly simplistic which isn’t like you at all. If you’re saying politicians are empty sales people who get all their policy ideas from special advisors, focus groups and unelected groupies…tell me something I don’t know.
By all means though, don’t let me stop you playing 3-D chess all by yourself
