Few things impress me, especially hype, PR clowns, bigmouth middlemen and other money bullshit that passes for sport these days.
But seeing (and hearing) those amazing machines blast around Silverstone and watching the way those incredible (lunatic) drivers go wheel to wheel, inches apart, into a corner at speeds faster than I'd feel comfortable driving in a straight line - no BS there, that's literally when the rubber meets the road (or in Pirelli's case explodes into the air). Fantastic. Bring spare pants, you'll shit yourself on their behalf when they go for that gap. Alonso and Hamilton coming back through the field? Just wow!
The crowd, they keep going on about it on TV but it really is something when the whole crowd rises to it's feet as Hamilton blasts past, like some scene from Ben Hur. And when Vettell stopped and the whole place erupted into cheers, Jeez I felt sorry for the guy. Imagine being disliked to that degree. Hamilton toured the run off areas right in front of the grandstands at the end. Insane reaction from the crowd and no swearing, no hate, absolutely 100% suitable for kids (obligatory for kids I'd say). Boy's own stuff right there in real life.
We got to walk the track literally within an hour after they had all been flying around at near 200mph. You could still smell the fuel and see the tyre tread smeared across the road. My son stood on the old pole position line for a photo, people can criticise Silverstone all they want but they can't deny the guys there know how to put on a show and now how to give a little back to the crowd (having taken plenty too, of course - the prices, ouch - bring sandwiches FFS!)
Only downsides, it all goes so fast (time). The race drags on for ever on TV, but yesterday it was over in what seemed like minutes. Oh, and you experience that and then have to go back to work the next day. Fucking hell, what a suicidal come down!
All in all though, one big beautiful never to be forgotten astonishingly good day of sport. Do this at least once if you ever get the chance.
PS. The Red Arrows? Mad and magnificent bastards in a whole different way.

Pirelli are to be allowed to do two tyre tests, will they invite Ferrari & Red Bull?
-
Threatened driver strikes over tyres? stop driving over the kerbs then, pussies.
-
Ecclestone and the gang have escaped much of the criticism here, considering they are 100% to blame for this tyre nonsense. They were the guys who wanted to throw random shite into the mix to get the viewer figures up. Nice to see them take the extra profits and dodge the buck when its looking for a place to stop.

Vettel fastest in P2 and today, P3.

Q1 under way at the Nurburgring.
-
Massa fastest in Q1. Safe to say some drivers have been taking it easy for that session I would say.
Bottas, Maldonado, Pic, Bianchi, Van Der Garde and Chilton all drop out.
Williams.
-
Maybe Massa really is the fas...
:haha: I couldn't even finish the sentence.
-
Massa has got one over Alonso.
Q2 is a few minutes in.

Rosberg eliminated. Di Resta, Perez, Guttierez, Sutil and Vergne join him.
Damon Hill predicted Rosberg for pole. :rose:
