Title chance :rose:
Puma Money :rose:
Just pay the money IMO, you've scouted him for so long, and now you have the perfect chance to stump up an extra £7m and get him.
His release clause is active in the summer = Everyone else will be interested. Want him in the summer ? Well it'll cost the same amount !
Best chance we're going to have to win the title in a long time IMO, next season Chavs will be stronger with Mourinho having had a full season to build his team and Man U should be improving their squad considerably (Liverpool too with a few additions won't be far away).
There's two major problems at this club, one is the injury problems which seem to be completely ignored by the management as if they don't exist, the 2nd is the handling of transfers, we always sign players as late as possible or drag transfers out over months leaving us with nothing at the end or little time to find alternatives, I really don't get it.
If we don't sign one or two players it will be a big mistake IMO.
He's always done this and it's a serious flaw. If he truly thinks this guy can make a difference to our title hopes then why wait? He should have a list of players that he knows will fit our style and his philosophy then do whatever it takes to get that player. That's what our rivals do. City and Chelsea spend stupid money on players but that's because they're making dead certain their bid is accepted over any other club and they pay silly wages to further compel the player because they know they're name doesn't ring the same sort of bells as the other top established clubs. If their manager says players A, B and C will win us the title, then they take no gambles. We need to get to that point. I don't want to see money wasted on players like Gervinho and Podolski who he'll lose faith in after a season or two.
Beginning to look like the same tight old arsenal, isn't it.
Just hope we scrimp and hard ball on Wenger's contract negotiation as much as we do on transfers - we are only interested in paying for super, super quality, after all.
This kid will end up going somewhere else and his agent will shop him around to someone else because he simply won't want to do business with us. I don't see how we can go so deep into negotiations for so many players and come out with nothing. Jovetic, Higuain, Suarez...we end up messing it up and half the time we have to pray that no other club wants the player.
I agree, if we leave it until the summer, we won't get him before the World Cup, if he has a good World Cup the top clubs will be swarming all over him and we'll miss out.
If what Ornstein is saying is true than to be honest fans need to go to the Crystal Palace match and protest, and demand that Wenger is not allowed to sign a new contract before the end of the season and that he should not be awarded one at all without silverware.
I don't care about the Champions League qualification, it's not a trophy......the league title, the european cup, the fa cup and the league cup are trophies....at the end of this season we will have gone without silverware for the longest time in our modern history and for that he should lose his job. I have never bought the argument about the Man City's and Chelsea's preventing us from winning things, if anyone believes we would have won something if not for those two clubs than they are deluding themselves.
lol
Protest at the next match when we are 2nd in the league, 2 points ahead of moneybags chavski, with Mesut Ozil our £40mill signing on the pitch? That's going to be a tough sell. Besides, Draxler is 20 years old and is inly starting to break into the national team. £37mill, it's a bit crazy. The fact we're prepared to go to £30mill is crazy enough. I'd rather we just paid the extra £7mill and grab him, but it won't be my head on the block if the potential isn't realised and the money is wasted.
Another signing for Chelsea.

£12.5m .
Never heard of him
He's meant to be good, that Zouma - still one for the future, but they're talking about him like they did Varane...
Don't get me wrong i don't care about Draxler one way or the over, it's just i am sick of seeing deals fall through because we find out that Wenger (not the club but the manager) doesn't want to pay the money to bring the player in. Is a kid of 20 worth 37 million of course not, but to be fair if Wenger thinks the guy is good enough to improve the squad (the criteria for bringing in players) than surely the money shouldn't be an issue.
I think the lack of signings ties into ticket prices?....actually what are we paying for?.....the price we pay for matches might be acceptable if we saw some return of the expenditure in the transfer market which would help us to compete for silverware. Of course Wenger doesn't set the ticket prices, but the point is he shouldn't be deciding a player's value either....it should be up to him to pick the player he wants and let the club do the rest....he concerns himself with things well outside of his remit.
Ozil was bought simply because the fans were pretty much on the verge of mutiny after being pushed too far, i don't think any of us wants to get to that breaking point again before another top quality signing is made.
But to be honest if we sign a striker on loan tomorrow than i will be satisfied in the short term, but i just think what's going on in this guy's head if you see so much in this kid and think you can turn him into a world class striker like Thierry Henry than why hesistate about the cost when we can clearly afford it?.
Man City poised to sign £38m swoop for defender Mangala and Fernando from Porto [Mail]
Had him on Fifa last year, french, strong and fast big black defender.
£38m ?
This I agree with. Wenger shouldn't have so much power in this area. But do we have anyone else at the club who is competent to make these decisions? Placing a value on a player is not the same as negotiating for sponsorship deals or agreeing loan rates. I'm not saying leave it all with Wenger, I'm saying let's get somebody in to assist him. We've all seen the difference Bould made to the defence. Maybe the best signing we could make is a football guy who could deal with the transfers and contracts. Now we have the potential to be spending cash every year it's worth getting the right team in place to make the right decisions.Quote:

Fucking hell, seems that ~£38m is just for the defender !!
BREAKING: Manchester City have agreed a fee of €42m (£34.5m) with Porto for the transfer Eliaquim Mangala [RMC]
FFP :haha:
Yeah, mate. Sounds like he has a similar rep to varane and would very much complete the defensive puzzle we have. Chelsea seem to have signed him for a decent price too...considering the potential.
Always said and thought Wenger spending this much on a 20 year old was a long shot so I won't be surprised if the draxler deal doesn't happen. If we won't spend the nuggets on him now, we won't spend it on him this summer either sow I'm resigned to losing out.
It does seem that Wenger makes it far more difficult than it needs be to get deals done. That may have been necessary in the past, but it shouldn't be the case now.

Happy Jim White day.
He won't go without signing anyone.
He's not stupid enough to do that. He can see the title is wide open.

I cant see us bringing anyone in now. Talk of a loan doesnt really fill me with confidence. Oh well, best chance of winning the title since 2008, and we may well fall short due to not wanting to part with the cash (or pursuing the wrong targets).
We're going to end up with Kalou.
We'll sign someone.
We've not gone through 8 years of shite to build up resources for no reason. It's to be used at times like this.
He will spend. He has to.
Yeh I don't believe that bbc bloke anymore than all the other shit rags, he doesn't have a clue either.
He tweeted that we were very unlikely to sign anyone near the end of the transfer window last summer.
Then we landed Ozil
I hope he does spend. Arsene is a massive gambler and it wouldn't be the first time he has "settled for what he has" when the squad/team is in need of reinforcements.
As it stands I think we need at least 1 more body, a striker, 2 would be preferable now that Theo and to a lesser degree Rambo are long term absentees.
Like you say the money is there so Arsene has nothing to hide behind, he has more than enough time to line up reinforcements.
Pulis is going mental. Buying Scott Dann and Joe Ledley apparently.
Swansea make a bid for Leicester's Jeffrey Schlupp. All from SSN.
Arsenal having a good nap.
SSN: Now Wolves have accepted a bid from Palace for Hennessey.
Too many players being bought at once...they're going down.
Tbf to the twat in the hat, he's done a really good job. Out of the bottom 3, and are really a solid team right now.
Ledley is a decent signing, not sure about the others.
Pulis
Also, those 2 players City want from Porto, will cost nearly £60m together.
£38m and around £15m+ for the other
:faint:
