Higuain is understood to have agreed personal terms of around £130,000 a week and is on the verge of leaving Real Madrid to become the first high-profile recruit of the summer at the Emirates Stadium.
"@arsenalaction: So Geoff has just confirmed that the £30m player we almost signed was Andy Carroll"
Dear, oh fucking dear. :haha:
how is higuain's new deal only going to be 130k? whats he on at madrid?
seems stupidly low.
must get.
Can't wait to see what Higuain's shot accuracy is on pes.
I think the Carroll link is just part of the annual "player we missed out on getting from Liverpool" thing.

Can't believe a must get is finally getting gotten.

Arsenal transfers: Ray Parlour urges Gunners to spend £100m
Arsenal transfers: Ray Parlour urges Arsène Wenger to spend £100m this summer to transform Gunners into title contenders
Ray Parlour has urged Arsène Wenger to spend £100m this summer to transform Arsenal back into title contenders.
The Gunners, who finished fourth last term, have been heavily linked with a £22m move for Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain, as well as want-away Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney, in recent weeks.
And former Arsenal midfielder Parlour believes Wenger should break the bank to secure some top talent ahead of the 2013-14 campaign.
“They need to go out and spend money now, reports are saying there’s £70m available at the moment,” Parlour told Goal.
“If I was Arsène Wenger, I’d say go out and spend £100m and get the right players to have a real go of it next season.
“The whole point in moving stadium was to try to compete with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona but now they are trying to compete with the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea, who will probably get stronger next season.
“That’s the most important thing for the fans, but now the club are in such a good state of mind with the stadium – they paid off a lot of money on that – and financially, they are in a very good situation.”
Parlour added: “The players that work for him on a regular basis would be very excited to have the likes of Rooney in the side, Higuain, who is a very good player at Real Madrid, and Fellaini, who has had a great few seasons at Everton.
“That’s the big question now, whether they can attract this sort of players to the club.”
Bit small time, real Arsenal fans would urge him to spend £500m.
It's quite scary to think that we could spend £100m, hell £200m, and still not win the league.
The competition is immense.
If all we sign this summer is Higuain I'll be chuffed.
Looks like we're close on Higuain. He'll be a major signing if we pull this one off, about time we spent some money on true World class quality.
Let's hope once this is done, Arsene moves on and focuses on upgrading other areas of the team/squad.
I'm also liking the rumours of the players we are looking to move on, Gervinho, Santos, Chamakh etc
If we manage to get rid of the dross and add a few players of high quality this will be the best Window for us in years!
Knowing our luck Higuain will turn out to be a fat lazy fuck.
Sky have suspended betting on him joining.
if we sign the hig and no-one else, but no-one leaves, where would we finish next season?
4th
Wouldn't it be kinda funny after all these years of selling your best players, not spending very much, keeping crap on high wages in the squad, all the warnings and doom-mongering of being overtaken by Spurs and dropping out the top 4 yet never actually doing so, that when you finally look to have turned a corner; spend big money on big-name players, keep your best ones and ship out the dross you finish 5th.
No?
There's tons of videos titled 'Welcome to arsenal' for all sorts of players. Hulk, Adrian Lopez, Diame, Gotze.
People are weird.
The Cesar and Fellaini rumours appear to have gone cold - would be very happy if we signed all 3 but expect Wenger to sign a big name in Higuain to keep the fans happy then continue his project to try and polish a turd
Don't think there was anything in the Fellaini rumours really, even though we have cash now you can count on one hand the amount of players we've signed from the Prem - and they were bargain basement at best.
