I think the others are much better thanks to the cash injection from the new TV deal, they can now pay the kind of transfer fees and wages previously only reserved for the top 5 or 6 clubs. The league is a heck of a lot more competitive, no one really fears anyone anymore.
Though doesn't really explain what Leicester have done this year, they were dead and buried 9 months ago then suddenly went mental and avoided relegation. Now they're top of the league with mostly the same squad.
*WENGER BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT ALERT*
As regards our 'traditional' competitors, maybe:
1. As Wenger says there really aren't (m)any 'world class' players to bring in to make the difference?
2. The frenetic nature of our league is taking its toll, both as regards injuries (Citeh and Manure are currently having shockers too), and on the ability of players with good reps abroad to replicate this in the EPL. Maybe its no coincidence that a more 'traditional' team like Leicester is proving better suited for our league?
3. Our squad - with Wenger's obsession with players being able to fill multiple positions - is as resilient as those of our more illustrious competitors?
4. Any team really can beat any other - which puts our disappointing results into context?
...just sayin...
The top sides in the league have got worse, without question. A good way to double check that is seeing how poorly they are faring the CL. Only City certain of qualification and even that may be in second, while three could drop out into Europa, or qualify in second at best. Those that do get through have no hope of winning it at all. The squads of all traditional top four clubs are pretty average and even the first elevens are mostly uneven and lacking in areas. And of course, the standard of play most weekends is pretty diabolical.
Agreed. Too much money, too many mercenaries, you have to keep renewing the contracts of these fuckers every 2 years or they'll piss off in a flash. Life is way, way too easy for the players at the top of the English game. What does it take to be an International now? One good write up from the cockgobbler Ashton. What does it take to steal £300k per week? Ask fatty. Sterling is a £50mill playa after half a decent season.Quote:

The top teams massively underperform. Not enough Alexis Sanchez and way too much Yaya Toure. Still some good pros out there but a lot of the "stars" are utter wank. Look at Azzah - he's an embarrassment.
Daily Mirror (John Cross) just said that Santi had a setback and will miss the whole season.

Wilshere
Our midfield. :rose:
Wenger has confirmed the Achilles set back so we won't be seeing Santi until next season for sure.
