Gold for China
China win.
China may get the gold taken away
And they have! :haha:
Germany get gold!
:haha:
This is all a bit shit. The world records have been broken so many times it had led me to completely devalue it. DQ's for the best, Winning gold from another DQ....only Chris Hoy can save this now by giving the refereeing performance of his life.
Team spint is a very new event so there are bound to be multiple record changes.
Chinese rider leaves before the medal ceremony :haha:
Bit of a farce really.
Lets have a race and then sort out who wins 20 minutes later.

The Cavendish of women cycling
I don’t know about disqualification cos’ that’s quite harsh but the incident does leave a sour taste in my mouth tbh. So why is there not more spotlight by the media about this admittance of deliberate simulation by Hindes in order to gain advantage of a restart? Is this not a form of cheating no matter how we try to spin it? What if every other team starts adopting such farcical tactics every time they feel they are on to a bad start? Would the crowd be so forgiving if they knew teams were constantly employing such tactics?
So where’s the outrage? Yup. It’s a different set of rules when the darling sons of Albion are involved, isn’t it. Not only is there no condemnation, we have the British Cycling body actually complicit in this form of pre-planned “contingency playacting” by helping to cover up Hindes’s embarrassing slip with denials of what actually took place. Who are they trying to fool? Hindes’ statement was already caught on tape (in clear HD) for the world to see. To deny otherwise, would only highlight our hypocrisy.
IMO the trivialising of this issue does demonstrate one important thing. It showcases once and for all, the frequent double standards of reporting by the media in this country. It’s disgusting to see foreigners being constantly labelled as diving cheats whilst such transgressions are conveniently downplayed when it’s one of our boys.
Take for example the recent farce about the young Chinese swimmer Shiwen and how quickly the press were jumping on her case by giving some credence (or air of legitimacy by virtue of extensive coverage) to the wild FUD accusations of some American coach. The cynic in me can’t help but think this is the media’s xenophobic tendencies rearing its ugly head again, by attempting to portray the Chinese as perennial cheats. What happened to the best spirit of the Olympics there? Innocent until proven guilty? Hell do they not realise that such wild accusations are libellous and prejudicial?
And what of the eight badminton players who’re disqualified for employing tactics to ensure their optimal chance of a medal (when it’s evidently clear the format is dysfunctional as it seems to be punishing participants for winning and rewarding them for losing)? Yeah it wasn’t pretty or played in “best spirit” of things, but at the end of the day, wasn’t it a just tactical ploy to ensure their best chance of winning? Was that not what Hoy & co were doing yesterday with the embarrassing playacting? To give them a better chance of winning?
Pity it didn’t materialise, but just imagine it was Team GB’s last chance saloon against one of the 4 badminton teams on that day, whereby only a victory would ensure their progression to the next round. Do you think we’ll be hearing the boos and the protests that the other team wasn’t giving their all in the best spirit of fair competition? No. There’ll be applause, flag waving and delirium. Perhaps even a standing ovation. That’s how farcical it is.
God I needed this rant
It's almost as if the press and public are biased towards us in our home games.
Weird that.
Come on TeamGB
No other olympic team in history have ever used tactics within the rules to gain advantage have they!
Rant wasn't worth it.
Team GB
If you can't beat 'em, cheat 'em.
GB! GB! GB! GB!!
Nah, home bias I can understand but the disturbing thing is, they were actually trying to retract and paint a different picture of what actually transpired when Hindes honest admission was already caught on tape with absolutely no ambiguities whatsoever! Can you imagine that? The governing body of British Cycling being complicit in the act which implies they’re condoning simulations of this sort with the playacting and all? The fact they’re trying desperately to deny it is outright embarrassing and cringeworthy imo.
Give a shit.
There are clear double standards in ay here. However, as regards to the swimmer, I can't help but feel something is up, not because the swimmer is Chinese but because she is from a secretive Communist state and there has been endemic state sponsored doping for decades amongst these types of States.
But I agree while it is not cheating in terms of transgression of the rules of cycling it is very cynical and I'd question not so much what the British team did, but why that rule is there in the first place because surely how you start is part of the skill of the sport and if you fuck it up, you should pay the price for it just as you would if you fucked up at any other stage of the race.
Mental cycling starts again in a minute
Keirin. :haha:
Such a weird event. Awesome when it gets going though.
Some dude on a white bike is out in front! :o
