Fucking hell. Back to earth with a whimper.
You have to give it to us, when we lose we lose really well.
Oh well, we'lll still have 1993.
:haha:
Yeah this. Tactically he should have set us up for the counter realising the dire injury situation and teh lack of cohesion among the players tonight, but I don't blame him for the team selection.
The likes of Welbeck, Jack, Rociky, Arteta all would have started tonight had they been fit.
We've barely got a first XI now, you'd be crying on every Arsenal messageboard if Ozil, Alexis and Cazorla had been risked tonight.
Moan about the medical staff and fragility of the players, but the other stuff is irrelevant on a ridiculously unfortunate night like this.
Bielik has brought a little bit of composure to our midfield.
Stop putting the ball out!
Wenger shaking his head at the time wasting :haha:
If it hadn't been for that we would have won this.
Yes good point re the counter attacking. Re selection we've already seen 2 first teamers injured in this match. Personally, while momentum is great the comp just isn't important enough to risk Kossy; Nacho; Coq; Santi; Alexis or Ozil. Of their replacements Ox should have been an adequate replacement for Ramsey; Gibbs for Monreal; Debuchy for Bellerin and even Campbell for Alexis. Bottom line is that no matter the quality of player, a massively disrupted team will simply not perform - which is why a lot of giant killi happens in early rounds of the league cup.
There isn't going to be a comeback is there?
Chambers.
That is terrible.
Cahmbers doesn't belong here.
:gp:
Had we had the whole squad fit it probably would been,
Ospina
Debauchy
Per
Chambers
Gibbs
Jack
Arteta
Rosicky
Ox
Welbeck
Giroud
Which would have been a pretty solid team with enough quality and cohesion (from playing with each other at times in the first team) to comfortably beat Sheffield Wednesday.
Sigh ...... just one of those nights.
Just got to pray that Ox and Theo's injuries aren't bad and our general confidence doesn't take a hit from this.
Debuchy, Chambers, Gibbs, Flamini, Giroud, Campbell. Hang your heads in shame. The youngsters will hopefully get another chance next season.
The way they are playing, the lack of intensity, the casualness, I don't think they give a fuck. You can lose on one of those nights to a hard fighting underdog, but if what I have seen over the last 20 is the same as what went before (and it sounds like it) then we haven't bothered to turn up. That's no good no matter the competition or the opponent. If you don't show up then you are stealing a living.
The press will have a field day on this result, but nothing much more to it than a bad night at the office in a comp that is the least of our priorities. I don't think this will have an effect on the first team - other than the injuries. Shit night's football.
I used to enjoy watching our League cup teams, now not so much.
Campbell.
Shit.
3-0 FT. Bit of a stinker.
Well that was disappointing....
Feel rather sorry for our fans who've trooped up there. Luckily there are some decent boozers in Sheffield!
FT pure embarrassment.
If Ox and Theo are alright or only suffered precautionary injuries/strains, then everyone will forget about this in a few days.
As someone else said, we have about 9 squaddies injured and they would ha e featured and made a difference today.
We had too many rookies and the experienced heads let them down as well.
No biggie, we have bigger fish to fry. Swansea and Bayern away will be very tough.
Been impressed by the kid Christian Bielik . He has a maturity for a 17 years old . He should have started instead of Kamara . Anyway , It's over and out .
