Definite red, if Arteta didn't foul him, Chamakh would have been through on goal and Arteta's far too slow to catch him. Not only that but he also had a man over on the left to pass to.

Also, actually quite hard to avoid the foul, especially when you have someone like Chamakh who is looking primarily to make contact with you to try and get a free kick and only if that fails, reluctantly to go in on goal.

I'm not convinced if the situation was reversed a Crystal Palace player would have been shown red.

It's easy, don't touch him and it's not a foul. But if he did that Chamakh would have been through on goal and we would have probably been back level at 1-1.

Right decision from Arteta to take the red, and also right decision from the ref to send him off.
