Nobody is using the price tag to bash Wenger. They are using Wenger's history to realise he hasn't changed course at all. Despite last season Wenger is still very much pushing ahead with his bizarre project which promises nothing more than to confirm our status as a very ordinary also ran.
Yeah, I see what you mean. But that won't happen under Wenger. We need a new manager if we want the sweeping changes required.
The Chu Young guy actually shoots and looks quick, so he's an upgrade on Chamakh. But Wenger has no intention of changing to 4-4-2 or benching RVP, so I knew he'd go for the fringe player.
With the middle of the park, he's banking on Wilshere, Frimpong, Oxo Cube and Ramsey. Ramsey is far from ready but the other two are. Not sure about the Ox but his best position is the middle. Wenger spent a lot of money on that kid so he's going to get his shot in the first team. Until then, Yossi may be able to fill the gap, Rosicky as well. Just don't count on Wenger making a huge signing for the middle because he's already got plans for the young players and won't 'kill' them.
But Wenger has to spend the bulk of the money on the defence. We agree on that point. Kosienly, Dodo and the Squid shouldn't be starters. Kozza is good for back up but he shouldn't be starting. We also need a left back. Traore is gone and Gibbs is injured. A new left back is a must.
This is damage control. I won't Wenger gone by the end of the season because he won't change and can't coach defence or motivate the players. If he can patch us up on the cheap and leave money for the next coach, that's great. But I don't expect huge signings on Wednesday. It's not happening.
The £70mill - £80mill is in the public crosshairs right now, the bean counters haven't had time to hide it or spirit it away like they did with the Ade and Kolo sales, remember we had £30mill to spend before those sales and we still had £30mill at the start of this window, so that transfer money vanished somewhere. If we wait until even January there's a great chance we'll only have the customary £30mill left. It's a clever amount, just short of being able to buy quality if the wages are factored in. These fuckers think of everything when it comes to hoarding money.
UPDATE:
Still no fucking signings...
