Julian Nagelsmann doesn't want to lose Upamecano because he sees him as key part of the 3-man defence he wants to play.
You know who else plays in a 3-man defence? Mustafi!

If we were linked to an England U21 centre back with a very good reputation but who wasn't totally proven and hadn't achieved much for 60m Euros would we all be excited, or complaining it's too much money...and how good is he really? and English player's cost too much.....
Apparently it was an enquiry and not an official bid - although that may still happen.
Spurs want Fernandes and Lo Celso, with Eriksen being sold if they do.
Rooney to Derby as player/coach is happening in January
L’Equipe still banging the drum about Coutinho on loan too.
Koscielny has officially gone to Bordeaux.
Shame how it ended. He's been a great player for us.
Disgraced himself by the end and ensured any legacy he built is badly tarnished.
Minimal info about it on the site too, which says a lot after 9 years.
equally respectfully disagree with you and agree with GP
Kos was a high-class player who was run into the ground by Wenger and as a result grew a little less reliable but always threw his body on the line for us
farewell Kos and thanks for the great years of excellent-class service - enjoy Bordeaux
Meh. He was ok, much better when he had a good partner. Certainly no leader.
The stalwart of our banter years.
A good value signing considering the service we got from him but no legend, the way he’s left ensured he will not be remembered that fondly once the dust has settled.
A few stats about his career then this:
Heartfelt for our longest serving guy. :lol:Quote:
We decided to sanction his move to Bordeaux once we agreed acceptable transfer terms.
We thank Laurent for his contribution to the club and wish him all the best for the future.
Did the dirty on the club and got turfed. Well done to Raul and Vinai. 4.6m for a 33 year old clapped out player is good too.
They also make sure to mention they plucked him from the French second division, i.e., we made you the player you are.
We got a good price for an ageing player and someone many would’ve let go for free instead.
He was the one who chose not to go on tour, now he’s got to deal with the consequences of that. He’ll feel it more once he’s retired and despite this being the longest and most successful part of his career, he won’t be able to return in any capacity to receive a warm welcome.
Eriksen in talks to go to Utd.
The Coutinho thing seems to be that he was offered to us (not sure if on loan) but we want to get a CB before considering anything else.
Upamecano not happening and might be Rugani instead.
What has happened to Mavropanos ?
When either Sokrartis or Chambers get injured, surely he will play instead of Mustafi as Holding will not be ready.
Tierney would be a bonus signing. Centre back surely more important? Right now we have essentially swapped Chambers for Kos.
The guy put in some very good performances but in the end he was always error prone and with him you always knew that in a big game he could give away a goal with one of those lapses.
Decent player, but personally won't lose any sleep over him going, as someone said he was no Sol Campbell.
Now Spuds being linked to Coutinho
Bayern want Willock yeah good luck with that...
I think Bayern are in a bit of a mess and they might want their own Sancho. I agree, if they were willing to pay really stupid money for Willock, I’d be alright selling. Although, I don’t think they have that kind of cash.
Elsewhere, loan fee for Courinho being kicked around is 25m euros  Barca mugged themselves right off with this one.
Kos, served the club well but has tarnished his legacy and lost sight of why the career he has had was possible at all.
Off you pop.

Kos.
Stupid twat.
Our heroic captain.
I nominate Ozil, Xhaka and Mustafi for the vacant captain's position.
It's the only way their exit becomes a guarantee.
With Koscielny's departure, every single player, even from the bench of the Cup Final defeat to Birmingham has now departed from the club.
Not bad in 8 years.
We’ve apparently agreed terms with Rugani, might be a 2 year loan at first, then a obligation to buy at 40m euros.
Another Wenger idiot gone.
So many still to get rid of though.
Good riddance, but Arsenal needed a CB anyway so surely there HAS to be one coming in soon.
Nketiah heading to Bristol City on loan. Medical tomorrow.
