Obviously, if top class players are available for peanuts then ignoring them would be silly. But average players replacing average players isn't actually what we need atm. Players who are better than our best in CB, CDM, and CF seems to be what many ex-players like Dixon and Seaman have been saying we need.

Arsenal-mania had turned against Wenger by 2008. I used to post on that forum (but realised it had an elitist attitude and a small clique dominated most discussion) and used to defend Wenger against some of the OTT attacks. I said we should give him time and see whether he can deliver on his promises. 3 years later, the same drivel is being served up and the same tired excuses trotted out by our manager. I'm not surprised so many people have had enough of him. He makes pathetic excuses for why we've failed to lift a trophy for the last 6 years, and without a bit of honesty and mea culpa fans will continue to bemoan his intransigence and inability to come out with solutions to our predicament that don't simply involve "more of the same".

Adebayor got a wage increase but started putting in half hearted performances so we sold him. If we were strapped for cash, he'd have never got a wage increase.

I blame Wenger for all those fans who want to suck his cock. If Wenger wasn't here there'd be nothing to suck. Wenger's fault, for sure.

He was worth the increase at the time tbf, I think if the performances had kept up we would have kept him but they didn't so we took the money and legged it, we were lucky Citeh were willing to pay so much tbh.

Whether he was worth the wages isn't the issue. The point is we gave him the wage increase. We could afford to. The same applies to Nasri. I won't accept this argument about us not being able to afford the wages.

I agree to an extent PnG, but I think the issue really is that we stand to be blown out of the water by City with any offer we make.

We give him 120k, he'll think ok, lets see what I can get from the Arabs.

And that's exactly what will happen in January if he starts the season here without a new contract.
