I'm almost laughing as I say this, but there might be the remotest of remote chances that the Kroenkes always planned to back this move if they were forced to, and were just waiting to see if we could raise the money through sales first?

There's just something about how calm Arteta and Edu have appeared about our transfer business, and how there's been literally zero interest in any other targets...

Athletic refused to negotiate by all accounts so it was either pay the release clause or nothing. I suspect we hoped loaning Torreira would ease their stance.
