And I have a feeling the outrage about this sale is also a little to do with the fact that Wenger paid such big money for him. Had Chelsea or Man City got him for £42m, they wouldn't have cared so much IMO because those teams are used to pissing away huge sums. While outside of England we were still known to be desperate to sign a top player, I don't think it was as apparent. Wenger has a big reputation for being stingy/careful with money and the fact that he has paid a lot for him is making them think a bit more than they should.
