 Here's the answer.Quote:
Sissoko then spoke in glowing terms about Arsenal, with whom he has been linked. “It’s very flattering,” he said. “Arsenal is one of the best European clubs. Be followed by this kind of club, it’s good to know. I hope I will have a chance soon to play for this club or a similar club.
“I think few people would refuse to play for this club. The beautiful Arsenal. We’ll see. I cannot tell you that I will go to Arsenal. For now, I’m focused on France and Euro 2016.
So Aubameyang now being linked away, I was under the impression he wasn't for sale.
Problem with us is we never try our luck (except for cheap buys) and thus miss out and watch other teams improving whilst we get left behind.
Is Vardy (even he is stringing us along) really the best we can do? What happened to competing with the best....
You say that but clubs have to operate within certain budgets now and can't go too much into the red or they get fined and possibly banned from Europe, so that's not strictly true anymore.
I know we've signed Xhaka but I've never even seen him play (he's not exactly a household name), I personally think 33 million for a player who we've not really heard of is a hell of a lot, but ignoring that, I don't mind this signing, the striker situation however is a mess, being strung along by Vardy a journeman at best and missing out on better options from clubs who don't actually really need those options as much as us is frustrating.
Watching other clubs going after the player I'd like to see at the club whilst we go after players I don't want is very annoying, yes Wenger has his unique way but it's been proven to be a failure for so long now maybe he should at least try a different tactic.
Not anymore after UEFA relaxed the FFP rules after being challenged by City and PSG, who thought they were being unfairly treated. So it's pretty much back to how it was before Platini had his bright idea. Which is how City splurged £130m last summer in one window on just three players. Believe you me, no regular CL club is ever going to get banned from playing in Europe.
So we can't go toe to toe with City and teams bankrolled like that. If they want to offer £60m for one player, then we have no chance. We could afford that but then have to cut corners elsewhere I'd imagine. I don't think we'll ever be that club, no matter who the manager is or who runs the place.
I'm not exactly behind the idea of Vardy but it is a different approach and potentially a turnaround for Wenger in that regard. He's never been this quick to go for two big signings before. Never put this sort of offer down for a player at this age. And he's never gone to another Premier League club to try and sign the second highest scorer in the league, from the Champions. Whether we like the idea of Vardy coming, think he is worth the money or believe he will or won't work out is different. But what can't be said is that this doesn't seem like a new approach.
