I think the issue is referees are treated as holy cows in footballing circles. To be punished you have to make such a stupendously glaring error.

In terms of Arsenal I don’t think there is any overt corruption, I mean why bother....who would actually bother paying off referees to give decisions against us.
For refereees it’s all about perception. If Stoke are seen as a robust team, it’s in keeping with that that the mindset in a referees mind will be to overlook their more blatant acts of thuggery.
Where as we have the reputation of being pussies therefore if we are robust the referees immediately come down on us for it
And doubtless there are referees who probably don’t like us, if you’ve been criticised by a club or it’s mansger even subconsciously it will factor into your decision making process.
For me, if a manager has an obligation to do a post match interview why shouldn’t the match official?

From this I gather:
A) Wenger is finding it tough adjusting to the new set up and having a specialist like Sven in place that knows just as much as him. He probably sees him as a threat. Note the line 'We know the players,” said the Arsenal boss. “We knew every single player in Europe before Sven arrived.'. Once again it seems Wenger is on the defensive and has his guard up, almost dismissing Sven's knowledge and expertise and reasserting his own authority.
B) He refers to it being difficult for Sven to adapt to the new environment too and that it's not been plain sailing. Sven's probably come in and seen how inefficient and out of date our practices are, and how everything is so reliant on an old dinosaur.
Sounds as if it's not all rosy behind the scenes. I think head's and egos will be clashing soon.
And that's exactly what we need.
I'm with Wenger on this. The refs are shit, the authorities and media cover for them. Anyone and everyone can see that, and if they want to fine people for saying it and ban then then it hints at corruption too.
