Given the inordinate amount of faith Wenger usually shows in his players, it's noticable when he freeeze someone out. Perhaps this is Wenger making a point? Perhaps he has friends at Lille and in embarrassed we fucked them over?

Arsenal damages it's popularity in S.Korea.

We expend wages, a fee and a squad position for pretty much zero return.

And the money men and marketeers who dreamt this shit up get exactly the opposite of what they hoped for. It's a fubar across the board.

This may well have been a signing for economic rather than footballing reasons, but Wenger's an economist who seems to be a firm believer in the Chicago School Friedmanite school of economics, so I'm not sure he'd be against signing a player just to expand our support base in the Far East. He'd probably get his calculator out, do a cost-benefit analysis and give it the go ahead of the benefits outweighed the costs.
