No surprises there, dreadful manager. Villa stayed up by virtue of Bolton and QPR being a bit shit.

Never understood why Lerner wanted him in the first place, sack of shite. Bet they go after Martinez again
I think Di Matteo will be kept on at Chelsea regardless. Dalglish wants to stay, doesn't he? Liverpool won't have the heart to sack him. 'Arry has nowhere to go. Should be interesting to see if any of the more established clubs put a big money contract on the table for Rodgers or that Norwch guy, but as I say I don't think there'll be a lot of movement at the top. Mancini has earned his stay now. Newcastle are happy with Pardew.
To only win seven games in the league is piss poor. Funny how one of them was away at Stamford Bridge though.
Big 'Eck has officially gone.
They must be ecstatic on VillaTalk.
So... Steve Bruce favourite?
:haha:
Or Curbishley. Same old guys mentioned for jobs all the time.
They want Lambert

Aston Villa can confirm that Alex McLeish's contract has been terminated with immediate effect.
The club has been disappointed with this season's results, performances and the general message these have sent to our fans.
The board wishes to assure supporters that we are conscious in every sense that Villa expects and deserves more and we will strive to deliver this.
Villa chairman Randy Lerner said: "We need to be clear and candid with ourselves and with supporters about what we have lacked in recent years.
"Compelling play and results that instil a sense of confidence that Villa is on the right track have been plainly absent.
"The most immediate action that we can take is to look carefully at our options in terms of bringing in a new manager who sees the club's potential and embraces our collective expectations."
Chief Executive Paul Faulkner said: "We'd like to thank Alex for his hard work and efforts throughout this tough season.
"We are mindful of the club's need to prepare thoroughly for the new campaign and for the new manager to be able to begin working with the board so that he is quickly immersed in these preparations and also in the long-term objectives of the club.
"Our focus now will be driven by these imperatives and we will update when appropriate.
They don't even wish Big 'Eck the best in his future endeavours. :rose:
Thing is, Villa are a bit wank. They only have a few players you would mention and sooooo many kids in the 25 its a bit silly.
Shay Given must be tearing his heather up
Lambert or Rogers imho.
Although I don't see either leaving their clubs after such a good debut season in the Prem.
Big 'Eck with a win rate of 21%.
Lambert is the favourite, Martinez second favourite. Rafa is mentioned and of course, so is Curbishley.
Yours will have John Barnes in addition though.
The dream team of Digger and Trigger is way out of our league.
Every cloud.
I think AVB would do an awesome job at Liverpool if given the time
As it happens I agree.
Ticks a lot of boxes and won't have any Old Boys to stage a coup against him.
Or even someone like Klopp. If you don't ask...

"I'd expect to be here next season and hope to win over the dissenting Villa fans. I think Randy will be pretty pleased with the outcome. He's been very supportive in texts over the last few days, which indicates great support for me. It's been a tough season, as tough as I've had. I knew the challenge I was taking on. But going through it is always different from what people tell you. You have to experience it. I'd like to think I've showed my leadership and always stood up in the face of adversity all season. I am proud to be intact and not having thrown myself off a bridge or something."

"It was an absolutely shocking, woeful display. Maybe some of the boys were thinking about their holidays already.
"That team needs a change and there will be change. That wasn't an Alex McLeish team today. We need to bring more quality into the squad.
"I take (the fans' booing) on my shoulders for the sake of the players, I agree with the fans' frustration about our display.
"I'm expecting the board to back me. I have no reason to think I won't be (Villa manager next season). We've got through a really tough season. I've won lots of trophies as a player and manager and I haven't turned into a bad manager overnight."

He knew. He knew. It was the only decision that could have been made. The enmity after the Bolton game? There was no coming back from that. Senseless appointment in the first place (not that the protests covered us in much glory), and it has now been borne out. What we have to do now is TAKE OUR TIME. Nothing domestic is going to happen until July 1st this year anyway, so might as well use those weeks to get a proper plan in order. We don't need "someone in by the end of the week" or any of the other loon-bag suggestions doing the rounds on Villatalk. Oh, and drop the "must have Premier League experience" 'requirement' too, that hemmed us in good and proper last time.
Do you reckon they could persuade Maradona?
Phil "THE man" Brown?
Wonder if Denton has spoken to him recently?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18070294
Did they?
One for Rors to answer
Fat Sam is taking legal action against Steve Kean for this...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xcB9XfLjL8
:haha:
Wow that's unbelievable.
The guy who put that on youtube is an absolute prick. Such a dick move.
But still...Phil Jones? :haha:
It's funny because Phil Jones is shit.
Kean tearing into Fat Sam.
Always rated him.
This is why they sacked him yes. Did they really think the man who got their rivals relegated was going to bring this to their club.Quote:
Compelling play and results that instil a sense of confidence that Villa is on the right track have been plainly absent.
The people who gave him the job need a slap.
Mick McCarthy is favourite for the Villa job.
Rors :pal:
Oh dear.
We want to find someone to reinvigorate the club."
"We want someone to bring some vibrancy back to Villa."
That surely rules out Mick?
