Man City away. Sat 14th. 12.45pm.
-
Play well but lose 1-0 to a pub goal.
-
1-2. Scuff off Kompany's arse for our winner.
-
-
Think a frustrating game is on the cards. Sagna still out which doesn't help at all. 3-1.
-
Gary neville makes a good point:
"I think there is a little pattern developing in Arsenal's last two games, against Everton and this one, where Cazorla has been driven back," agreed Neville.
"On Saturday against Manchester City the likes of Kolarov, Clichy and Zabaleta are going to fly forward and if Arsenal do play Wilshere and Cazorla they are going to end up deep and then they can't get back up the pitch.
"That means Giroud is isolated. I think it is a no-brainer to play Theo Walcott on Saturday. I thought they would have brought him on in the second half against Napoli because there was a little pattern there
-
We are getting a little bit obvious in our play.. we really need some pace in the team. Walcott, Podolski, Ox cannot come back sooner! Walcott is already here but for some reason or the other isnt being utilized... I'd love to see him push the City backline further back coz if they are camped around our half, Silva, Aguero and Toure will make us pay!

Neville is an awesome pundit.

An absolute scum as a player, but have to agree he does make a proper pundit.

I don't care if it scuff off Pellegrini left and right balls, as long as we win. Having said that, I am quietly confident we will win. :coffee:
-
If WUMger gets the team right and they look energised from the beginning, we have a good chance to win.
If he just packs the midfield again, we'll probably flatter to deceive and they'll scuff a winner like RVC did.
Cazorla is out of sorts at the moment. I'd say play Rosicky but his form has dipped slightly too. The right balance between possession and quick movement is needed.
Szczesny
Jenkinson
BFG
Koscielny
Gibbs
Arteta
Ramsey
Rosicky
Theo
Giroud
Ozil
1-1 (Koscielny, Aguero).

Personally I believe the outcome of any game is in the mindset of the players involved . For Arsenal point of view , Chelsea and Man U are the only big teams in England who have created a psychological barrier in our players . You will certainly notice whenever we face them they always look strong even when they are in dip form .
But City , being in great form at the moment , is not the kind of team which strike fear on us .
I am quite confident we could have beaten them at their own ground . But because they are on fire , I will go for a draw .
Final score City 1- 1 Arsenal .
City being favorites for this game can be a blessing in disguise for Arsenal . Because City will be complacent and thinking they will win the game simply by turning up .Arsenal will be more that motivated to prove people wrong and will work harder .
-
City won't be complacent. At home they have been utterly ruthless. I wouldn't even fancy our chances of a win here in the midst of a 49game unbeaten streak.
-
Anything could happen - there could be some ludicrous turn of events that changes the whole game, like the ref playing by the rules for example. Assuming nothing crazy like that occurs, if we play our own game, forget all this tired bullshit, forget we have the chavs coming up (or at least hope Wenger forgets), get a big day from the centre backs, we should grab a result. If we go in with any sort of doubt, be negative in any way, try to get a draw, we'll get murdered. We have to approach this from a position of the clear leaders going to the home of a club well behind us - we're better than them this year, the table says so.
-
Sagna is fit for the game !

Meanwhile, the Gunners are boosted by the return of Bacary Sagna for the weekend's massive trip to title rivals Manchester City after missing the last three games with a hamstring injury.

More moaning about being tired:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...h-Arsenal.html
This serves zero purpose. I can understand a wind-up before a game, but a moan about being tired? How can that help? Why don't they shut up and stop defeating themselves before a ball is kicked?
-
Yeah, in terms of our squad, I expect Wilshere/Ramsey/Theo/Sagna to all start , they didn't play too much if at all recently.
-
For me the worry is that we have few mf/ forward players showing real form all of a sudden. For us to be effective we need confidence, concentration, tempo and players on top of their game. There seem to be few of these all of a sudden.
-
The Crossmeister General reckons Sagna will play against Man City. If that is the case, I revise my prediction to 1-1. A settled first choice defence helps a lot.
-
I am really not confident about this one. I wasn't even a few weeks ago but given our past two performances I think we're going to be in for a really rough ride tomorrow.
I have this game down as a write off, think we'll get beaten 3 or 4-1.
Sorry....
-
Sagna will have a fitness test.
-
Podolski is also available but little bit short
-
He's nearly 6 foot
-
Wenger's going to go:
-------------------Szczesny--------------------
Sagna----Koscielny----Mertesacker-----Gibbs
-------------Arteta----Ramsey---------------
Walcott------------Ozil----------------Wilshere
-------------------Giroud----------------------
-
I do hope Sagan is fit. Jenks (much as I love the dude) was shit on Wednesday.

Doubt Sagna would've made any difference when the rest of the team were so bad. But yes, he's several levels up from Ghelkers, even though I thought he has been alright in these last 3 games. Need another Monreal style signing for a backup RB so that we can send Jenkinson on loan. He has barely played 50 professional matches, he needs games. Instead the club sent Bellerin out.

I think he'll start Wilshere over Walcott. I hope he doesn't play Flamini and Arteta in the middle again forcing Ramsey out wide. He may go too defensive again.
-
In recent weeks other teams have began to realise they stop us scoring by stopping Ramsey's runs. We need to swap it about. Lets go back to a formula closest to that of the Invincibles.
Sir Ches - Lehmann
Sagna - Lauren
Koss - Toure
Merts - Campbell
Monreal - Cole
Cazorla - Pires
Flamini - Viera
Arteta - Silva
Ramsey - Ljungberg
Ozil - Bergkamp
Walcott - Henry.
Won't win it but its a formula & will give Giroud a much needed rest - for all of us.

Walcott is only effective as a striker if paired with a big man to nurse him as a body guard . The big striker would " fight" the defenders allowing Theo to take advantage with his pace . If Giroud is to be rested then Bendtner must take his place to have a good balance . But unfortunately , Nicklas might need a brain surgery to perform in these kinds of game . Hopefully he proves us wrong ,should we need to bring him on .
-
If Bendtner plays, I will spotaneously combust.
-
Couldnt find any statistics from later years, but havent we always (also after they got the oil money) had a pretty good grip on man city? They still have an amazing home record tho, but so did Dortmund and Bayern before we came running :)
Really dont know what to expect, could be the team that almost lost to crystal palace or the team that beat the champions league finalists on their home court, that shows up :dunce:
-
Monreal will play instead of Gibbs who's being rested. Sagna at RB

Interesting. Wenger preferred Monreal for away games last season. Should be a seamless change if Gibbs isn't fully fit.
