would go mental if we signed him, would love him here but should we really do this to ourselves ...your gif says it all
How can buying one of the worlds best footballing prospects at the age of 20 be anything other than the way forward. Doesn't matter what position he plays in, he is already & will be a better player than Wheelchair, Cazorla is very hit & miss, Rosicky isn't the future. I could see him & Rambo becoming a dream attacking midfield team with a world class DM behind them. If we're not going to invest heavily in a proper goalscoring forward, then we are going to need midfielders who score alot of goals, only Rambo is doing that regularly from midfield & we have now lost Theo's annual contribution.
We really don't need to see that GIF. As for the thread, :(.
Come home Draxler. Your dad is waiting.

This thread :rose:
To be fair, we can't complain if we spend £80m in 2 transfer windows. For years we cried at the underinvestment but this would certainly show a new direction in terms of our spending policy.
The only thing is, why take a risk by trying to turn a midfielder into a striker at a critical point of the season? Will it happen overnight? Probably not. Hence many being unhappy with the idea. Sign a decent striker and we win the league. Simple. But I won't sit here and complain if Draxler comes. This is what we always wanted.
No problems - we can just balance it out by buying Costa and playing him on the wing. This management lark is easy...
if spurs sell holtby to shalke which allows us to sign Draxler during the same season that they sold bale to allow us to sign Ozil, they should probably just give up football
How good is this guy? I've only seen snippets of him from CL highlight shows, can't ever recall watching him properly.
ScoutNationHD just uploaded this compilation of him... The assist he does 2min in, is all i need to know about him

Good enough to prompt the fans to hire a fleet of trucks and paint slogans on the side so they could taunt the opponents who tried to sign him, apparently. If Wenger wants him he'll either be very, very good or very, very shit. I think they'd have a nerve to want £40mill for a very, very shit player so on balance I suppose he's very, very good. Like most, I suspect, I;ve hardly seen him play. He looked okay on the few occasions I've watched him.
The kid has talent and as said he's only 20 if we get him I think it would be a fantastic signing
I've seen people say he's the best young player in the world and that he has the potential to be as good as Messi.
They're probably way over-exaggerating but if people even think to say that then it surely speaks volumes about his ability.
He's not that good but you're only going to get harmed comparing players to Messi really.
Draxler if anything, will probably more like Ronaldo as a player but he's 20, so just sign him and get him in the Wenfer lab.
When I first saw some of the earlier clips of him my first thought was 'German Bale' (probably because he was always on the left or in midfield) - he seemed to have that same marauding style when he got going, and when he scored it was nothing but worldies and screamers. But looking at some if these new clips, I can definitely see elements of a striker in there.
That being said, I'm not as convinced as some that that would be our plan for him? I suspect we might end up using him in much the same way as he's currently used at Shalke, and still look for another CF?
And talk in the Mirror is that Levy is trying to veto any move by Holtby back to Germany so to scupper our hopes if landing JD......it's like he believes his Scum team are direct rivals to us  !!!!
That's bollocks, he's only injured for 10 days too.
So, rumour has it that Levy is blocking Holtbys move to Schalke in a bid stop us from getting Draxler, priceless, a chairman more concerned about what we do than what his own club is doing
I was a bit dubious we'd get Draxler but now Levy is involved it's a sure thing! Welcome to Arsenal Julian and thanks as always Danny boy!
How many prodical young Germans can there possibly be at the end of the day. Makes you wonder why they havent just blown everybody away in the last few tournaments.
In football, we have fashions. Scottish and Iberian managers are popular because of Fergie and Mourinho, and C level Spanish players like Llorente and Mata have taken clubs for bucketloads, trading on their nationalities.
This guy could quite easily be the Steward Downing of German football.
Even if he is, Bayern Munich would still buy him from us.
From what I have seen of him he looks very very good, he's very highly regarded in Germany, he's seen as one of their most exciting talents and they have plenty of them!
He's quick, technically excellent, a great dribbler, decent shot, fairly strong too.
I would love it if we signed him because I truly believe Wenger will develop him into a World Class Player.
He's had a couple of seasons in Bundesliga and has done well, also has done well in CL.

Interesting reads.

Very. Kid could be a beast.
Interesting quote.
Quote:
When Arsenal announced the signing of Henry from Juventus in 1999 for a then club-record transfer fee of £11 million, Wenger was taken aback when there were suggestions of placing Henry back on the wings.
"I don't know why you would put a player with his physique on the wing," Wenger said, as per Roy Collins at The Guardian. "You have to at least try to play him down the middle."
You must be a far faster and comprehensive reader than me PGtips..... always have a few external sources at the ready!
Most interesting part of that was - 'There is one quality above all others that makes Draxler a suitable choice to play upfront at Arsenal: his first touch.'
A very important ingredient for an Arsenal centre forward. RvP in a sense was a little more obvious as he always had incredible shooting technique on his left foot and had a knack of scoring from bizarre angles but if Draxler's first touch is top notch that lands him in good stead.
Not quite sure how he is ranked Bild's 90th best Bundesliga player and Kicker's 108th! Not sure what it is based on.
I think Rafael Honingstein is a really good reporter and I was interested to hear him comment on Reus' clause recently too in which he said it did not come into effect till the summer.....which I think is what a few have suggested for Draxler.
Simple really. Its based on them studying German football week in, week out. As opposed to seeing his score on Champions League Goals one evening once.
Just hope Wenger knows what hes doing. 3 Germans for 100mill odd, while the two so far have not really impressed.
Yes thats right. I trust the German media over Wenger.
They arent like the giddy English press pack. About a decade ago I remember a German article delaring there were no world class players in the Bundesliga getting attention over here. We would never do that, when the Premier League was second rate we pretended muppets like Cantona were top drawer.

Read this yesterday also. Writer also questions if this is the right move for us and why not? He's still a kid in development at the end of the day and it's a lot of money on the table if we spend another £40m. Ozil is proven talent and you know he'll get better but Draxler is a gamble even though he looks very talented.
As for Wenger's knowledge...he doesn't always get it right so you can't blame anyone that's skeptical. It's not as if we didn't sign Chamakh after he was scouted for a while. As for young players, we've had our fair share of duds and Reyes was one of them even though he looked to have it all in his locker.
I'd welcome the signing of Draxler but if reports are right, we may be able to get him for £20m because Schalke. I'd be comfortable with that.
We wont be paying anything like €40m for Draxler. We'll be trying to turn his head and make him only want to join us and effectively down tools at Schalke giving them little choice but to sell.
We thought we could do that with Suarez but it turns out he didn't want to join us enough to refuse to play for Liverpool and force the move. I'm sure he would have done if Madrid were after him.
It's a great site for football fans. Always worth checking out.
You're right about the first touch thing and I guess I've found the answer to why Wenger has been playing Theo on the flanks. It links in with that other quote about getting players to learn how to play in tighter spaces so they learn his to exploit space better when deployed in the centre.
The kid sounds exciting. Both footed, deadly shot and pretty good at beating his man. Even if we don't play him as a striker in the centre, the winger role from the left could be perfect for him. It's a risky move for us because he's been inconsistent in the league and hasn't been that influential this season. I'd like to see him join the club but not so sure we should be activating his release cause to get him now when it seems like he's more of a project and one for the future. But we will see. Wouldn't complain if we did. Kid could be a beast if he really is about it.
Erm no....sorry doesn't matter how good this guy is what's the point when we do not need anymore midfielders
Maybe to be considered in the summer as a long-term replacement for Tomas Rosicky but it's got to be a striker if we want to maintain any pretence of wanting to win things this season.
Unveiling on monday apparently
