Throughout history, English CBs have been right up there with the Italians. It's always been a position of strength for England. Even in the last World Cup, Jagielka and Cahill are excellent CBs (Terry is still better but he's not picked). He'll be competing against very good CBs for club and country so to 'make it' he'll have to be world class in the next 5 years.
That's right - 5 years. So why not give him some time to get stuck in at Arsenal before catapulting him into the circus?
