Optimistic we'll create alot of chances, miss them all, they have one chance 1-0. :(
Nice to get the toughest game out the way first. Even if we lose there's no big pressure. My plan would be to rotate, get Rosicky, Arteta, Cazorla on and see if we can get a point. But the no.1 priority is to escape with no injuries and beat the shit out of Villa on the weekend.
I'd take a draw TBH.
2-1.
STOP GETTING INJURED, YOU COWARDS!!!
Just read that they are missing Hummels and Reus.
1-1 in that case.
Monreal, Sanogo also out in addition to Giroud, Theo, Gnabry and Debauchy. Monreal and Sanogo both short-term though.
Chambers rated at 50:50 because of a little tonsillitis.
ITV are showing Liverpool against a pack of bakers, brickies and gravediggers rather than Dortmund v Arsenal. They really are an absurd channel.
Anyway, this will be a pubby 2-2 between two slightly depleted and not yet fully-functioning sides.
3-0
Sahin hattrick
Sahin's out.
We will win.
Three fit defenders. 2-0 Dortmund. One more season of mismanagement to suffer.
1-1
1-2 to us. Sanchez and Ramsby with our goals.
We've got to start winning games and getting into the habit again, so why not start tonight.
Difficult to judge this one, not sure how good Dortmund are this season, we did win last season but didn't they dominate but fail to take their chances?
I think we'll get a draw at best.
Dortmund did dominate last year & could have been out of sight, Rambo nicked the points for us - We tried the same tactics in the final game at Napoli & very nearly went out of the competition. We aren't good enough to keep the likes of Palace & Leicester out defensively so its pointless playing defensive against good teams - we simply don't have the players to do it. We have a dodgy defense with 2 of the leagues worst defensive midfielders. I'm afraid that the team Wumger has built can only do 1 thing which is go forward - if he tries to play any other way we are fucked.
Szczesny; Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Arteta, Ramsey, Wilshere; Alexis, Ozil, Welbeck
Arsenal subs: Ospina, Chambers, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Cazorla, Campbell, Podolski
if Chambers is fit enough to play (i.e makes the bench) should he not be starting?
Thoughts
- Glad to see Flamini finally out of the team.
- Props to Wenger for giving Bellerin a chance. We need to preserve Chambers.
- Disappointing that he's not rotating more names. We've got immense depth in the midfield and attack yet it's practically the same lineup as Saturday. We need to make full use of the squad if we want to do well in both the league and CL. Would have brought in Santi, Rosicky and the Ox myself.
- Santi :rose:
Good to see Bellerin involved, we need as many defensive options as possible.
Souness going off on Mesut
I reckon Wenger ought to have kept Jenkinson as a back up for Debuchy. Playing Bellerin today could be described as a masterstroke if (and it's a massive if) we keep a clean sheet. Or it could more than likely spell a recipe for disaster.
Well the good thing is that Bellerin won't be up against Reus.
Most likely it'll be Aubyemang (unless Klopp moves Miktyrian there) and Bellerins pace will be very useful in that duel.
worried about ozil out wide again but at least he'll have gibbs behind him. if we work hard enough withought the ball there is more than enough attacking quality to win the game.
my money on jack and sanchez to tear them a new one, hopefully defensively we can hold out.
