I think Paul Robinson joined Burnley today. That changes everything.
Should be at least 6-0.
Should be a comfortable win whatever team we put out. Though I'm sure we'll do our best to try and make a meal of it.
Looking forward to seeing Elmo play.
3-1.
Aren't Rosicky, Coquein, Sanchez and Ozil all back in training again? Can't we muster up a decent squad and result for this one.....
Oh for fucks sake, not in here too.
Fuck it - I'm gonna do some moderation for a change.
Try and keep it on the topic of this match. There is plenty of room for NQ and Letters to have the same argument on this forum elsewhere.
I don't believe you've managed to screw this one up yet: http://www.goonersweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=946
Would be nice to see Elneny and Coquelin in the middle. Also we should throw Theo up front and give Sanchez a game on the left. Maybe give Ox a game in the middle and see what happens. Last chance saloon for Theo and Ox imo. They need to make an impression or be prepared for the bench.
Surely Theo's not getting a game after his last batch of performances? That would be taking favouritism too far. Giroud up top, Ramsey and Campbell wide, Elmo and hopefully a fit Coquelin or else I guess it's Flamster in the middle. Ozil conducting.
As it is, Ozil will probably be on the bench and will we see, for no credible reason whatsoever, Ospina in goal instead of Cech?
I hope we win.
Is that OK?
We don't have a back up striker and we also need to start preparing for that Barca game. I think we'll get a firm beating like we did against Bayern if we set ourselves up to play like that again. The best Theo has been for us this season has been up front. Playing on the wide left hasn't been good especially when he's only focused on making runs and passes in the final third. He doesn't carry the ball so his days as a winger should be over. The left experiment hasn't worked.
Ramsey wide? I wouldn't. What's that going to achieve? Play Campbell and Sanchez wide. Bring back that counter attacking pace we were playing with at the start of the season. Ramsey has to get used to playing in the middle so if Coquelin is fit, play him alongside him to see if he fairs better. Rosicky should be on the bench to take over that CM role if he's not up to task. Pushing Ramsey wide would be favoritism. We need to get certain up to speed for the fourth coming games. I'd rather rest Bif for this one. Let him come off the bench.
You mention favoritism and Wenger playing player's out of position often as a criticism but on this occasion, you'd play Ramsey wide? For what purpose when we have Sanchez and Campbell? Flamini shouldn't play either. I'd rather we tried Elneny in that role if Coquelin isn't fit.
Wenger is not going to drop Ramsey so he has to be accommodated somewhere. I'd rather it not be the centre.
I would like to see Iwobi start up front. I have been very impressed with his performances whenever he had a chance. He looks strong, has good feet and makes good runs. He needs a goal, and I have a feeling he will fly from there.
Can he play up front? Would rather give Sanchez or Campbell a chance up if we're going to really experiment.
Worth a shot in that case.
Coquelin is BACK for this! :yippee:
Welbeck will play in the reserve game against Brighton on Feb 5th

Coq and Elmo partnership please.
Glad to see Coquelin coming back for this match. We've been absolutely shit in the middle since his injury ;-;
Coquelin and Rosicky in the middle. Sick note is the closest player we have to Santi in style and always brings life back to the middle after about of disjointed madness.
We have an almost fully fit squad! *Knocks on wood*
Barring any new major injuries, there is absolutely NO excuse for us to fold and die in the title race or the FA Cup. I am not counting the CL because we will lose that for sure.
Fully fit but Rosicky hasn't played in ages and is 35, not sure we should expect much from him. Wilshere will come back next month but you know how fragile he is. Arteta is just as bad now. Hopefully Coq can see it through to the end of the season and Elmo shoud get a game this weekend. Just a shame we have three useless players used out wide too - Theo/Ox and Wellbeck, when he's back.
Be very interesting to see if Elmo gets a game. Maybe Coq on for 45?
The only players who should need little bit rest are probably Ramsey and Bellerin.
Bif had last week off. Ozil had an international break off, plus a rest in the last round and a week off again when he missed the Stoke game.
If anything, this is a good game to get some players back in the groove again after a dodgy few weeks. Alexis getting a full game would be beneficial and if most of the squad are fit, they need to get back some semblance of coherence after such disjointed midfield and wing play recently.
I'd go with:
Ospina
Chambers
Gabriel
Koscielny
Gibbs
Coquelin
Elneny
Ozil/Rosicky
Oxlade/Campbell
Walcunt
Alexis
And then maybe give Ozil, Coq and Alexis the last 20 off if the game is won.
we are at home, should be fairly comfortable but Burnley should be high on confidence as they are doing well in the Championship.
Give the new guy a start to see how he does, there is a game midweek though so I would keep Alexis and Ozil on the bench. Give Ramsey a rest but play Cech as I still want us to go through in the cup.
2-0
4-1
COYG
Would play the team MS suggested, Alexis needs game time, Feo needs to play another game to try get his shit form out of the way
Feo probably just needs to not play on the left.
He can be used on the wings if we have a first-choice team out there, as they can compensate for some of his deficiencies. But when you have no midfield, it means he's relied upon to make something happen rather than make runs and be on the end of others' creativity. We got away with it a few times but eventually, the lack of quality in the middle and lack of nous out wide really told. Playing an extra midfielder or even Iwobi or Jeff would probably have been more effective.
With most of the squad back now, I'm sure Theo will become very useful again. As well as Bif has done lately, we need to use both their attributes depending on the game or situation. And Bif is great off the bench, so hopefully he'll keep up that hunger he has shown this season rather than be annoyed at being rotated with Walcunt.
Anyway, prediction for today: 3-0 if most first-teamers are involved. Pubbed 2-1 if it's an unbalanced mish-mash of a team.
Imagine the team will be something like this
Ospina, Chambers, Koscielny, Gabriel, Gibbs, Elnenny, Arteta, Ox, Iwobi, Campbell, Giroud
Oh well nine out of eleven not bad
Coq/Elnenny should be great on paper lol
LOL - Wenger :haha:
He can't resist it can he?
I like the team tbf, apart from perhaps Chambers at RB.
Come on Arsenal.
Elneny with his first foul. :cloud9:
