Here we go again...
:ilt:
Looking forward to the return of the season, more to satisfy my dirty football habit more than anything else.
1-1 I'll go for this one.
2-0 Ozil with both (would have been a hattrick if he was playing)
Can see Liverpool winning this with the state of our defence, at best we'll get a draw with our unique blend of boring football.
Not that it really matters, we're not going to be competing for anything this season anyway, the annual bottle job will once again take place.
1-1.
Chambers, Allen Mane late equaliser.
1-2
We'll go two down and grab a consolation ten minutes to go, and then actually start playing when it's too late.
If we win this MO makes all the match threads for the rest of the season ok!
Anyway I'm going to be all pessimistic and think we'll end up losing 3 - 1 due to our shit defence and Mane running rings around our temporary CB's of Chambers and Monreal. We'll then see a similar sort of poisonous atmosphere emerge like we saw three years ago against Villa with the crowd chanting "Spend some fucking money" forcing Wenger Gazidis to go on a last minute spending spree to get Mustafi and Lacazette.
A defeat would probably be received worse than the Villa and West Ham losses.
I don't think we'll lose though, Liverpool are probably the only big team that we generally avoid defeat to. Whether we have enough firepower to get the win though...not sure.
1-1
4-1 defeat. Wenger to buy Sri Lanka's top forward to compensate. You read it here first!
1-3 defeat. No CBs, no striker, no hope.
Really hope Wenger gets so much stick and ends up resigning.
2-1 tbf.
1-1
1-3
I can't even predict this. We do still have a team, right?
Actually couldn't give a shit about this. All of football should be so embarrassed they can't face turning up for a new season of cheating and scraping around for more cash. Every one of the cunts should be flown out to Rio at their own expense so they can see what sport is.
Not watching it. Really, as well. If it's a choice between a bunch of tossers diving around the place or proper sport then I'm going with the latter.
Radford78 in
Which camp is Radders in, Camp NQ or Camp Letters....
As for the game, although Im a little worried for the defence, I think with a Xhaka/Elmo CM partnership, or maybe Xhaka/Coq, they should be able to offer protection to the CBs
Im going for a score draw in this one.
Predicted lineups from the Guardian
Sturridge is out though

I won't be comfortable with both Iwobi and Chamberlain playing and there has been a distinct lack of Debuchy's name as a makeshift CB....despite the fact he looked better than Monreal and even Gabriel there. At least he looked pretty natural there, albeit he didn't play there for an extended amount of time.
Now obviously that is to do with him wanting out but he is still at the club for heaven's sake. We can't make him work in hospitality so may as well play when needed.
Get Carzola in there and we win this game, simples
Really not sure about Ox starting either. I think he needs to be eased in to the squad off the bench without the huge expectation and pressure of getting dropped if he has a poor game. I don't think he'd handle a poor start the season well. We saw what happened last year.
Yes I agree. Take the pressure off and I'd be more than happy to pay Campbell or Walcott ahead of him.
I thought he started well but had two bad performances from in our last two pre season games. I don't want it to be a case where we have to shatter his confidence if he doesn't perform or try to stick with an underperforming player out of fear of crushing his confidence.
We go into the game without our "terms agreed" CB. And of course without that striker we've been after for the last 4 seasons. So it now falls on the players who have let us down without fail to not let us down. What could go wrong?
Do we really do the, "If Theo has a good season, if Ox delivers on potential, if, if...", thing all over again? Quick answer. They won't. Or at best it will be a miracle if they do.
I agree though, for want of a settled team of players that actually want to be here and are fully prepared for a new season, we should consider Debuchy as a typical Arsenal make do and mend option. When you are scrabbling around with broken bits and pieces and with other pieces missing entirely then you use whatever you can cobble together.
Debuchy at the back, Theo wide, give a few kids the chance to step up? Why not? It's all random anyway. Unplanned, unprepared, negligent, complacent, incompetent. And it's LIVE!
I agree with Tim Stillman on his sentiments about the symbiosis between Theo and Alexis. If it were me I'd play them both and even encourage them to alternate between the CF position and wide right one.
