Arsenal haven't lost in East Yorkshire for 101 years.
Wenger
We've torn Hull apart on our last 2 visits to their place.
Expect that to continue.
1-3
3-0 Ozil hattrick. Or 0-0 if we sell him because he's shit.
3-0 loss
4-0 this is the game that will give us hope before they disappear again against Chelsea.
if we play like we did on tuesday we will lose, because i don't believe even Hull would pass up the chances to score that Edinson Cavani missed.
I think tomorrow is a good day to rest the Coqzorla partnership (especially as Coquelin played like a slag on tuesday)
Although i think Elneny would be a good physical presence against Chelsea, would be happy with a central midfield triangle of Cazorla, Xhaka and Ozil....you know the one that really looked like it worked against Watford.
Wenger has confirmed that Petr Cech will return in goal against Hull, after sitting out in the Champions League to give David Ospina some game time, but Aaron Ramsey remains injured. Theo Walcott is a maybe at the moment.
He's also been talking about summer signing Granit Xhaka, saying that he sees the 23-year-old as a "box-to-box player".
"Xhaka is adapting to the pace of the English game, but he will play games," Wenger said.
"I think he will have a huge impact."
It may explain why he's not starting games. Box to box - is that his style?Quote:
“Every week he’s stronger and better. I think he will play a big part this season.
“He has the stature, the power, the strength.
“For many players it took some time to get into the team, it happens.”
He adds: “I prefer him as a box-to-box player. He has the engine to have an impact with his runs.”
I take it back.
Wenger doesn't think he's ready.Quote:
“Look, In one or two occasions [he struggled]. I think he has adapted quite well. His physical strength and power allows him to pretend to play straight away.
“He is highly focused. Elneny as well, both of them are focused and top top quality.”
'It may explain why he's not starting games. Box to box - is that his style?' from P & G
I didn't see him as that, but hey ho, Wenger knows best.
I had him more down as a DLP in the Xabi Alonso mould, I swear Wenger is obsessed with converting any player he can get his hands on.
Moreover, if Xhaka is box to box then I'm even more confused about our Midfield options, when Xhaka partnered with Caz are we essentially playing with two box to box midfielders?
I don't buy that he's not ready for the Prem either, he has to play to get used to it and he's been with us in pre-season training, you'd think he would have some clue by now.
WUMger and his cotton wool wrapping. Happens to most of our new signings.
I still wonder if we have to pay more every time we play him minutes like we did with Ox. £200,000 I think it was per 20 mins, which is why he came on at 75 mins as a sub. When he came on at 70 mins and there was a chunk of added time, we had to pay Southampton. I can't see the point of those clauses, either you buy the player or you don't, could have ruined Ox's game as he didn't get enough playing time. Now he doesn't now whether he's coming or going half the time.
Xhaka comes from Bundesliga which is the most similar league to the PL in terms of quality and physicality, plus he was known for being pretty tough there.
Ridicolous for Wenger to think he's not ready especially after splashing 35 million on him.
Anyway got a bad feeling this is going to be one of those annoying draws, 1 - 1 or 2 - 2. We've used up our quota of luck for the season the past two games so expect a dodgy offside goal for them.
Had him down as more of an Alonso /Arteta as well. Not sure why we have bought him if trying to convert him onto something else. But Wenger knows. Maybe there is more to his game.
It means we're playing without a DM. May explain why Coquelin is driving forward so much. Maybe Wenger expects the same from Xhaka and is just setting things up. No idea why. He did the same with Song in his final season and now he's at it again.
I really don't get it. That can't be true because he threw in Holding for a massive debut game. Perez also played straight away. There has to be something he doesn't like about their game to not play them. Ozil and Sanchez went straight in and played all the time once making their debut.
Yeah, as Herb has said, he's had a slow start but looked to be getting better. It's a strange one because he's had a preseason with us and the only way for him to adjust is to get games. As said, Wenger was OK with playing Holding straight away, Mustafi and Perez started straight away and if Perez starts this weekend but Xhaka doesn't, something is up.
Why does Wenget want Xhaka to be box-to-box anyway. Could we just not empty midfield once in a while?
He seems a player custom made to be like Alonso to me.
Phelan offered the managers job at Hull, it's only fair that we shit on his doorstep should he accept it.
Xhaka will start tomorrow.
The guy's done nothing in the PL and nothing in the CL for how many years now? Millions spent. A whole stream of players through one door and out another and we're still nowhere near a settled team that can challenge for significant honours. It's perfectly valid for this guy to be questioned after all this time. And more than valid for the fans to do the questioning as in the end it's their cash that keeps Wenger high on the hog while he fails to deliver season after season after season. Nobody is saying an average fan could do his job, but plenty are saying that he can't do his job either and the long trail of evidence unequivocally bears that out.
Most Arsenal fans if not all , including me, are frustrated when we lose a game or do not win a major trophy . But it would be totally unfair not to recognize that Arsène is doing a fair job according to the money the club gives him .
I am not against a change of we have ready made replacement .
