Two more sleeps to Cosmin Moti!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Two more sleeps to Cosmin Moti!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Taking the missus to this. We have a very mixed record with her in attendance, so I apologise in advance if we balls it up.
2-0.
If we do it will be because we insist on continuing with that Colombian Failure in goal for Champions League games
Lucas Perez, Coquelin, Ox, Gibbs, Gabriel could all do with game time.
Didn't Ospina play a key part in securing our biggest point so far in the CL?
Which reinforces the point, as he done what Cech could've in your eyes, so he's generally a good keeper. There's no requirement for spectacular saves, few keepers manage that only a weekly basis, but as long as you stop the shots, then job done. We've seen a few mistakes from Cech in the time he's been with us too.
Give me a choice between the two and I'd pick Cech for his experience but there isn't light years between the two.
The difference is that Cech is far less likely to make mistakes, be bullied from set pieces to put us in trouble with poor goal kicks and clearances
Every time Ospina has had a run in the side, every goal we have conceded you have to look and think at the very least he could have done better
Looking at the PSG goal alone shows you're being too harsh with that theory.
ok i'll qualify my remark and say practically every goal.
Could you perhaps make it even more vague, just for the sake of clarity?
or i could list every game he's played where we have conceded goals and a more competent goalkeeper would have done better
From January 11th to the end of the season in May 2015, Ospina was in goal for every league game
We conceded 12 goals in 18 games which was a pretty good record (but far more credit to our defence) but about 10 of those goals were preventable but for Ospina.
Both of Harry Kanes goals at White Hart Lane for example were Ospina's fault and his shocking punches often put the ball back into the danger area and created constant spurs pressure.
Punching too often, rashly coming out of goal, palming the ball into his own net....poor distribution on top of this made the job for our defence even more difficult and it is a testament to how well our defence performed that we conceded so few...because they were a clean up crew for his shortcomings.
When he plays for Colombia it's often the same story....plus i see him concede so many goals at his near post.
Sczesny is a muppet make no mistake, but the reason Ospina is the back up and not him is because of Szczesny's attitude not because Ospina is a better keeper.
Frankly if Cech isn't playing i'd much rather us play Emiliano Martinez
That's a tough one. You've only picked out two goals and robbed him of any credit for a good defence record. Hard to argue against such resolute evidence your honour.
I gave one example but if you want others
I could give you the example of the games against swansea and west brom where he helped the ball into the goal
The goal charlie austin scored against us at loftus road where his positioning was poor, his positioning was equally poor for the Ander Herrera goal in the 1-1 draw against United at Old Trafford
the goal where he pushed the ball back into the path of Glenn Murray against Crystal Palace
The goal Stephen Quinn headed in against us for Hull where he was statuesque
And those are just off the top of the head. I praise the defence because like I say they had to put out a lot of fires which his poor distribution, over punching and inability to claim caused.
Even against PSG he caused just as many problems as he solved, came out too rashly far too often and Cavani went round him only to find an empty net.
His lack of height meant that he had to be bailed out aerially, and his lucklustre distribution just invited PSG pressure onto us again.
I just looked at one of those, the Stephen Quinn goal, laughed and realised there's no point arguing against bias. Guess we all have it about some players, Arsenal or otherwise.
It's not bias, he reacted too slowly....it was a powerful header but wasn't travelling quick enough that he couldn't have got a hand to it. No it's not a massive goalkeeping error, but it's savable and like i said my assertion was that most of the goals we conceded with Ospina between the sticks i would argue that at the very least he could have done better with.
although in fairness, the reason i think Sczesny and Cech would have saved those is because they have longer arms and are five inches taller than the Colombian
Let's be rational though, we know how Stubborn Wenger is over players, he played him in goal for half a season and if he was in anyway convinced by Ospina he wouldn't have bought Petr Cech it's really as simple as that.
Ospina isn't good enough for Arsenal, not even as a backup
Fecking hate Ludo.
Going off the usual prediction and say 2-0 win. Dont want to overdo my good juju of 0-3 losses.
It will be a difficult game if Football's modern hero Cosmin Moti is in the starting line up for them
Ospina, Gibbs, Koscielny, Mustafi, Bellerin, Coquelin, Cazorla, Ox, Ozil, Walcott, Sanchez
Xhaka :rose:
Would have liked to have seen a few more squad players given a go tbh.
Wenget didn't take long in buttering Ox up.
Though unless Wenger's stupidly moving the in-form Theo around, he'll be stuck on the left which is hardly his favoured position in the lineup.
Need to win this and no fuck ups, currently in pole position to win the group so good shout on the team.
Come on Arsenal. :scarf:
Come on Arsenal.
Ludogorets trying to camouflage.
have we touched the ball yet?
They're pressing us really well high. This won't be easy.
We've got to be prepared to use the long ball to circumvent their aggressive pressing.
Alexis reminds Keown of Ian Rush.
Good ball in by Bellerin, nobody attacking the box.
Anyone got a decent stream?
Theo's cross. :haha:
Why pass it Theo, why?
Slow man Alexis.
WHAT A GOAL!!
Sanchez!! Class
ALEXIS!!!!
