I'm uncertain of the number of times I have seen cassette play, maybe five or six times (and thousands of times in the 80s), but I'm certain that on each occasion he didn't impress. Of the 37 goals he scored last season, 38 were from the penalty spot. Maybe I just caught him on a bad day every time. Wonder why we aren't trying for Aubameyang?
I didn't count them but it did seem like half of his goals were penalties

A couple of them are beauties too tbf.
Good move but hopefully he's not an Alexis replacement.
French Danny Wellbeck
Big money. Let's hope he can deliver.
I just don't think I care about how much we may or may not pay for players anymore.
£50 million now is £20 million four years ago.
And plus, it's not my money. :ninja:
Unfortunately, unless he's been hiding his excess talent, this guy is very ordinary. Uninspiring. Ridiculously overpriced. But, we'll see I guess.
Speaks volumes for the dearth of talent in Europe when he's the best that's available.
Not even the YouTube hype videos can make this guy look special. And is he really only 5 foot 9? Fuck. 50 million quid? Why the fuck didn't we bid that for Suarez when we had the chance?
If we hang onto Ozil and Alexis then okay, Cassette is a useful (though stupendously overpriced) addition I guess. But if we lose Alexis and maybe Ozil too? If this is supposed to be Alexis' replacement then Wenger deserves every bit of stick he gets from here in.
Giroud it is then?
I'd rather stick Perez up top
People on here thinking and talking like Wenger. It's idiotic. Are we really going to argue for the younger cheaper option or hope he figures out an internal solution after all we have seen? More Giroud anyone? Perez hasn't even managed to score 15 goals in back to back seasons. Welbeck can't even connect with the ball to be striker.
Can you imagine if we spend more on Lacazette than we get for Alexis?
If we sign him it's nailed on that we will.
And all that really says is that we got an incredible bargain in Alexis.
I thought it was a good price at the time and it looks even better now.
I agree with many others that Lacazette probably feels underwhelming partly because of the Mbappe speculation.
Its a tight one for the club. Imagine if you will that we hold fast and keep Alexis and that him up front with Ozil and Lacazette brings us an improbable title next season. Prompting Alexis to pen a new deal....
I just woke up...No way Wenger wins another title.
We might as well risk losing Özil and Sanchez on a free. We won't get a good price on them either way, we won't find suitable replacements so might as well take the risk.

Anybody know what the above means?
Yeah, the fans will have to get behind the guy and give him encouragement and then hope he makes a step up. But it continues to demonstrate how out of touch Wenger is with the requirements of his own team and especially the expectations of the fans. We are not getting a Wright or Henry here. Fans will figure that out pretty quickly and then it might become a tough ride for the player. He'll have so much expectation heaped on his shoulders plus the record fee, and unfortunately he's just not that good. Maybe he's a late developer? We can hope.
Aulas has pretty much confirmed this is done.

Pretty happy with this signing, a goalscorer at long last, hopefully this is the end of Giroud as well.
We need to agree wages with the player, right?
Can't wait for the Xhaka Laca link up.
His record is insane really, he scores goals for fun.
However, cant help but feel we are going for 2nd rate French talent compared to the likes of Lemar, Mbappe, Dembele, Griezmann etc.
Cant understand how he hasn't scored that many for France as well, Giroud has a much better scoring rate (and way more appaearances).
