Another 0-0 win hopefully.
Ozil "has a little chance" according to winker, which means hes either being sold or hes out. Koscileny is out, which means he'll probably start and captain the team. Kolasinac is out, which isn't a surprise because winker hates him.
0-2 Chelsea. first goal we'l concede nice and early and then once we wake up in the 88th minute, they will counter and add a second.
At Colney. Wenger: "At the moment our injury list is quite long. We lost Kolasinac, Koscielny in the game [at West Brom]. The two who have a little chance... Ozil might have a test this morning. Koscielny is 30-70 available."
Time to play Theo.
Another perfect excuse for Wenker. Refs, fixture pile up, now injuries. Because that never happens to anyone else, only us.
Theo will be warming the bench where he belongs.
Actually he should be warming someone else's bench.
Theo saves up his usefulness for Chelsea and Man City.
Arsenal need 3 goals just to get a draw again.
Pathetic club / manager.
Welbeck yes, Theo absolutely not. He may play wide but he doesn't offer width. He plays with his back to goal and taps it 5 yards backwards. Can't remember the last time I saw him take his opponent on. I'd rather see him as one of two strikers, he'd be more effective there if we just battered the ball at him and gave him no time to think.
He'll make penetrative runs from a wide position if we're playing on the counter. Will give their wingback something to think about also. Besides Alexis, we don't have a player that's got the skills to beat their man on the flanks. If we try to play them on the counter or try to create overloads when in possession, we may get some use out of Theo.
I reckon we'll get a draw at best, a draw that will leave us a fair way from top four. Something to celebrate at least, Wenger failing to get anywhere near his precious top 4. Who cares about top 4 though, haven't missed getting hammered out of sight in the CL at all, nor our average performances winning a few games in the group stages.
In fairness to him, he does seem to pop up in these big games more than most.
Would be interesting if he did start because Chelsea wouldn't have prepared for it but I think Wenger has given up on him. This will be his last contract with us and I'm sure he'll be moved on soon.
Some of that footage is over 200 years old. It's been a long time since Theo last had a decent game. Partly his fault, mostly Wenger's fault. Our whole game has changed. When we got the ball forward quickly it naturally suited Theo's pace. With this plodding shit we now play the game doesn't move fast enough for him to be effective. That's why he's so static, that's why his back is to goal, that's why he lays the ball off so much. Horrible tactics based around possession we hardly ever do anything with. If you're hoping we go out and play a different game, that we up the tempo and try to hit the chavs hard and fast whenever the opportunity arises, rather than fucking around with the tippety tap, of course I'm with you. That's all I've ever wanted to see. How often do we see it?
What we'll most likely get is an even slower tempo with Wenger complaining post match about the fixture pile up. We can live in hope, in fact as Arsenal fans that's all we can do.
The decline (as opposed to stagnation) is clear. We used to play shit but we all knew we'd scrape the world famous Top Four Trophy somehow. Now it's by no means clear we'll get there and it will rely far more on our opponents collapsing than anything we do. Liverpool and the spuds have been horribly inconsistent, Utd have their problems and the chavs aren't exactly dominant, but we are still languishing in 6th. Highest ticket prices, third highest wage bill and hundreds of millions splashed in the transfer windows. But we are worse than ever. It's inexcusable.
Should have been moved on a long time ago, instead we offered him contract after contract with pay rises to boot, at any other top club he would have been sold years ago, to think he's been with us for over a decade and done next to nothing, this is what happens when Wenger identifies the next big thing.
Spot on, the only reason we're anywhere near top 4 is because those other teams have blown hot and cold, the fact we're 6th despite this just shows how awful we are, but then we know that when fans start celebrating 0-0 draws and 3-3 at home as if it's some sort of victory.
We thought last season was bad, we've somehow managed to get even worse this season, quite some achievement, but with that man in charge nothing is inconceivable. Watching him complain about a penalty decision and fixtures at the weekend was cringeworthy, somehow he never notices just how poor we are or how many errors we make, always someone elses fault.
Walcott is pony. 12 years of his failed promise should have convinced any Arsenal fan by now. If he hasn't left by February, he will be lower than a skunk in my estimation.
Think Walcott's recent injury took a lot out of him.
Was a massive injury and had a long time out. The picture of his knee is horrific; like a butchers taken the knife to it. Visible sliced scars on the skin.
No doubt will have mentally crushed him. He needs a fresh start.
Good that Iwobi has been dropped. Clearly just isn’t good enough
Ian Chambers is playing for us according to Skybot.
Chelsea: Courtois, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Cahill, Moses, Fabregas, Kante, Bakayoko, Alonso, Hazard, Morata.
Subs: Caballero, Rudiger, Drinkwater, Pedro, Zappacosta, Willian, Batshuayi.
I’m not expecting us to get anything more than a point tonight, it’s more about hope than expectation and as per norm we will be hoping Ozil and Sanchez pull out all the stops to get us out of the shit.
Tonight will be similar to the Liverpool game IMO, we’ll spend most of the game chasing shadows.
So sick of this shit, what was the point of us moving to a new stadium again? Ridiculous that we are putting starting line ups out there like this.
Inexperienced and off form defence that highlights our lack of squad depth. But who didn't know that already (apart from Wenger)?
Still. If we give it a go rather than tap our way around at snail's pace, that's a good enough team to give a pretty ordinary bunch of chavs a game. IF we give it a go.
Aside from the front 3 that's a rubbish team, not a lot of quality in there at all.
I wonder how many times Jack and Xhaka will give the ball away tonight?. Im guessing at least 50
Come on Arsenal.
Awful reffing already.
Stupid ref already starting to dick us. That was never a foul
What the fuck is up with the streams this season. Every one of them is fucked. Have the shylocks found a new secret weapon?
Good dive from Lacazette.
Alexis freekick, deflects behind.
Unlucky. Could have gone anywhere that one.
Looks like the ref is going to blow for every tackle. As long as he's not blind in one eye.
