Wouldn't that apply to just about any team though?i'd take their approach over someone like sunderland or villa any day.

perhaps but then again i'd put those two teams in the mediocre bracket and swansea play a type of football much better than that. to return to the top league after so many years with such an style of football is a hugely ambitious and so far successful way to survive in the league.
Not saying they haven't done well and that they at least try to play a bit of football. But where has this reputation for Barcelona style play suddenly come from? I can't see any similarities at all. Seems like a ridiculous media overreaction based on some romantic notion that has been attached to a newly promoted team. They did similar shit with Hull, not the Barcelona comparison (obviously) but plucky heroes, great manager, all of which was bullshit. Awful team, awful manager. I suppose the hype will die out next season but the whole Swansea thing must rank as the second most ridiculous exaggeration of the recent season, behind the notion that Stewart Downing is a professional footballer.

I think Swansealona tailed off a bit towards the end of the season but they do deserve plaudits for even attempting to play a possession game with what on paper is a fairly mediocre squad. I do think they could potentially struggle next season but we'll see.
Norwich deserve some credit as well but they had a pub element to their game so they're not talked about in the same vein.
QPR were the most pub like of the promoted teams and they only just stayed up. Hopefully Swansealona's blueprint is followed by more sides coming up.

As Mo says they should get some credit for at least trying to play good football, with what on paper is a poor(er) squad.
I'm happy we've got someone in who at the very least has some sort of philosophy of how to play rather than just the same old same old. Obviously the Swanselona thing is tongue in cheek as they're a world away from Barca. I don't expect it to be anything like that at Anfield next season. But playing any form of possession football where we actually look an attacking threat will be a welcome change.
If it doesn't work out then fair enough, but at least we've tried it. Right now we have little to lose but quite a lot to gain.
Not Swansea I'm having a pop at, it's the stupid hacks who have a pack herd mentality. One guy mentions something, the rest like the sound of it and it gives them something to write about and the myth is born. Then they sustain it no matter how ridiculous it gets.

Kuyt has joined Fenerbahce.
We might actually sign a proper winger now...
That's quite unexpected. At least for me. Kuyt embodied everything Liverpool have become in recent years. Useful player but not super quality. Paves the way for Scott Sinclair. Or Walcott if we can't tie his contract up.
It shouldn't be, it's been on the cards for months.
Same with Aurelio and likely Maxi.
Best striking full-back ever?
