He's a very good defender, if he had pace he would be amongst the top 5 in the World IMHO. I like him though, he's really grown in his role and has become one of the leaders of the team.

If he had pace it's possible it would come to the detriment of his overall reading of the game; he might be relying on that to bail him out. Very clean defender in the way he tackles, Kompany's reading is damn good but he's also a lot more aggressive in how he tackles (and probably why he picks up more injuries).

Took him a while to get used to the league and it didn't help that he arrived when we had our worst team under Wenger, but now he's completely settled he's an absolute beast. The cog in our team.
