I needed to send some money to a financial advisor recently and couldn't find my cheque book anywhere. Definitely did used to have one.
In brief, they do still exist but virtually no-one uses them any more. I had to go to the bank to do the transfer there in the end.

There's no fee for doing a transfer by cheque. I had to pay to do the bank transfers...
