what's that - the thing that lets you turn the heating on or off from somewhere else?
Yeah. It's one of those "smart" thermostats, you download an app and yes you can make it do clever stuff like turn the heating on when you're coming back from something so it's warm when you get in.
There's two main ones, Hive from British Gas and Nest from Google.
I went with Nest as it generally has better reviews.
