It was always going to be a full lockdown. As soon as Manchester accepted it was a green light. Almost nobody outside the establishment agrees lockdowns have any positive benefit, though the negatives are self evident. Dragging on the first lockdown past the socially agreed 3 weeks has killed many people, in slow motion. We'll never get an accurate count. So they need to keep this covid nonsense running to distract from the horrific and almost certainly criminal mismanagement.

Could've done it two weeks ago and done it for a shorter period of time.

    Fuckwads.

How have they gone from this Tier system and insisting that was the correct way to go to deciding to have a National lockdown overnight ?

Johnson should not be PM and I hope Starmer rips him to shreds on Wednesday in PMQs.

Basically because the numbers keep going up.
I saw data from a couple of weeks ago and the numbers were pretty much bang on the average deaths for the time of year. Might change of course.
The models they are following (not just from Imperial) all predict saturation of the NHS and a large number of deaths.
I’m not saying those models are right or the decision to lockdown is correct, but that’s the rationale.

Edit: some details about the models they’re looking at here

I see so many people who do not keep 2 metres apart, I see a lot of people who where face masks and who sanitise their hands but so many people forget about keeping 2 metres apart.

It is one of the most important things when you leave your house is to keep 2 metres apart, I try very hard to do it but SO MANY people don't.

Why does it seem to be worse up north ?

Have they forgot the rules up there ?

It isn’t all. Hospitalisations and deaths have too.
As I said, so far it’s nothing out of the ordinary for the time of year.
    That could change of course.
And the models the government are looking at predict they will.

I mean in terms of there being any "evidence" whatsoever there's a second wave that will kill more than the first, which is now being claimed by the frauds who are running this scam. Coronaviruses, flu, all sorts of respiratory diseases occur at this time of year, every year. We're locking down because nothing out of the ordinary is happening.
