If the latest set of reports on the Mata situation are true then the club is really making it hard for me to renew my Optimism Clique membership. Surely the Mata deal (if there ever was one) has not fallen through because of Cesc?! It makes no business sense to stall so his price can potentially rise because we're waiting on another deal which seems inevitable at some point. I was so excited about the prospect of Mata, I wonder what the situation really has been over the past two weeks.

We underbid for Alonso, underbid for Jagielka and who knows how many more we missed out on because we wouldn't pay a few more quid like every other club? At a guess I'd say we've been underbidding on Mata, if we've been bidding at all.

but I did wake up to see the news of Joey 'I'm a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic' Barton being allowed to leave, thus causing a scramble amongst top teams - Not sure if we are a top team but I did see our name mentioned too!

now I know I am going to be killed for this and I have said in the past that I would hate to see that piece of trash don and Arsenal shirt

but could it be that we need a player with his tenacity and never say die mentality...........?
