Well I thought the same about Song and he has three years left. We won't be in a position to tell them to fuck off because in all likelihood we'll still need the money to balance out what we might have already spent. FFP is a bit shit really.
And don't you think it's possible other players that might want to leave will just bide the time on the contract they currently have anyway? If players want to leave, they will. Spuds played tough with Modric but in the end he left, they played tough with Berbatov and in the end he left - it's the same scenario for us.

I don't think Wenger would ever buy just a destroyer in the midfield. The way we play necessitates someone who is comfortable in possession and with keeping the ball moving quickly. If we became a more rigid and pragmatic team, he'd be useful, but under Wenger someone like him would be odd.
