That is your perspective on it. I do not believe his stats prove he is doing a good job OR more importantly prove that he actually gives a F about putting on the shirt. He can have ability along the likes of Ronaldo and Messi, but if he floats around the field looking disinterested, I dont want him in my team. I'd rather have a Coquelin start ahead of him, if that means Coquelin puts in a shift.
Arsene Wenger, the only football manager that got paid 8 million quid to do nothing but sit on his arse..
Nothing like the same as a season of stats set against the players who are supposedly doing a day's work while Ozil is supposedly stealing a living. You guys are reaching so hard it's a wraparound. People who are claiming Ozil is lazy and a shirker don't have a leg to stand on when the facts are taken into account. On the other hand, if the yardstick is media myths then fair enough - stealing a living.

Wilshere and Cazorla weren't good last season. You won't find many on here that will argue otherwise. Jack was getting slated last season and Cazorla was getting a bit of stick too. That comparison doesn't work.
Compare Ozil's stats to the rest of the top midfielders in the league and he doesn't stand out as one of the world's best playmakers. Ramsey was by far our best midfield player and it's worth taking a good look at those defensive stats. Ozil has the lowest numbers in the defensive area and that's where this lazy tag comes from. Also, what he offers on attack isn't enough to completely bypass his defensive duties. He doesn't top any of the categories. He has one more assist than Ramsey and half the goals but look at Ramsey's defensive contribution. This is fact. If defending isn't part of his game, he has to at least be an absolute beast on attack and he isn't. This isn't media myth. It's funny, today in another thread we've been talking about Dennis Bergkamp and your talking as if we haven't seen the very best at this club.

For the hype and hoopla created around this 'genius', we deserve better stats than that. He stands out as 'slightly' better among a bad bunch, and he is automatically good?! If we wanted a 10 million worth of midfielder, we might as well have got a 10 million quid player. Ozil was a player we did not need (and still do not need), but was brought in because Wenger was caught napping (as usual) in last years transfer window.
I remember watching him for Madrid and he was quick and always looked strong on the ball. At Arsenal, he looks lethargic at best. He probably feels that he deserves a better team. Whatever it is, all I care about from the team is that they show some fight and I do not see anything in Ozil signifying 'fight'.

That's the thing, with both of you and others like you. Nobody is saying he's been a 'genius'. Not many, if any, have claimed he's been performing like one of the world's best playmakers. But the media has taken his solid performances, if not spectacular but just as good as anyone else on the team, and turned that into "stealing a living", lazy, non-committed, etc. And some fans have jumped right onto that bandwagon despite all the evidence to the contrary. Some are now saying they hope he's sold. Of course that's idiotic beyond comprehension, for many reason - some on-field and others off it. There's such a myopic fervour that's struck the likely suspects they don't even milk the "Wenger playing him out of position" udder (which is usually the gift that keeps on giving). It's shitty when our own fans start doing the media's job for them.

The thing is, in terms of distance covered, Ozil had the third highest total in our team until Feb/Mar when he went out injured for 6/7 weeks.
Giroud also had a 'lazy' tag last season. But he was top of the pile when it came to our club. You would assume Ramsey or Flamini perhaps but nope, it was Giroud.
Unless Ozil is running round like a good old Englishman, giving it so real 'effort' and proper 'spirit' then he's just tagged as lazy.
