Arsenal fear that both Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy could leave the club this summer, BBC Sport understands.
Attacking midfielder Nasri, 23, only has a year left to run on his contract as does left-back Clichy, 25, who has been linked with Liverpool.
There is significant internal concern over the Nasri situation, while Arsenal are prepared to let Clichy depart.
The Gunners have stressed that the door is open for the French duo to negotiate new deals at the Emirates Stadium.
After a sixth season without a trophy, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is expected to strengthen his squad this summer.
But his hopes of ending that disappointing run will be dealt a blow if he loses both Nasri and Clichy.
Wenger has always stressed that his priority is to keep the nucleus of his current squad together.
Huh? We don't need obscene money to compete and it's all wengers fault.

This transfer window is turning out to be brilliant isn't it? Not only are we at risk of losing first team players (who nevertheless are showing their lack of character by wanting to jump ship when they contributed to our shit end to the season) but the only players coming in our youth signings. Wenger will probably say he's building "a team for the future" and for us to judge him in 5 years time, when Jenkinson and Oxlade-Chamberlain have "matured"
