I wonder why, if their candidate has won, the process can't be finished to confirm it.

It is being finished.
The only person saying "STOP THE COUNT" is Trump because they kept counting mail in votes which were largely not for him.
And why were mail in votes largely not for him? Because he actively encouraged his supporters not to vote that way
But the counts will be completed, where it's close like in Georgia there will be recounts. Trump's legal team's arguments are being heard in court.
At last count they'd filed 10 lawsuits and won 0.

All that's happened is the press have called it before that process has completed because the numbers just don't work for Trump.
They do this in literally every election and you know they do. They did it for Trump in 2016.

The only difference is that in every other election the defeated party concedes - sometimes grudgingly. This time he hasn't. Because he's a narcissist who cannot accept that he might have ever been beaten at something. So he has to reframe it - he DID win, it was just stolen from him. Like young children do.
Most people grow out of it, it's pathetic to see a man in his 70s do it.

The problem Biden has is that the republicans still control the senate (although there are two run off races in Georgia i think which could swing to both sides having equal numbers) and the republicans can veto a lot of Biden’s cabinet picks etc.

It’s a stupid system in my opinion when one side can win the presidency but the other side can just veto everything or water it down. It would be like Boris winning the race to be Prime Minister but Labour having a majority in the commons & choosing his cabinet.

No, although it's super important he wins this election. Buys everyone a bit more time, not that I think it will be used to any great effect.

The president elect will be announced by the Electoral College. Prior to that, we haven't even had the auto-recounts, let alone more recounts that will result from legal action. The media to be spreading such harmful fake news, shows how partisan they have been all along. And trying to build legitimacy in the public sphere in an attempt to prejudice upcoming legal proceedings is particularly dangerous and irresponsible.

If their candidate really does have an all time record voter turnout then they'll get the result they have campaigned for, and the result will be seen to be legitimate by the whole population as opposed to just half of it. That would surely be a better route to the "healing" and "reconciliation" they are suddenly concerned about, after 4 years of ceaselessly driving hatred and division.

But no. They'd rather bypass the official process, place pressure on one party, prejudice the courts and whip up the public into a standoff. It's an odd sort of healing, and anyone who goes along with it is a suspect individual in their own right.
