Young was in the last of his contract, which helps. Though you could say £16m is way overpriced too.

Downing hasn't really stirred emotion at Liverpool, which is both harsh and expected. "Sky sources" is a good way of increasing one's fee though.
Downing was better than Young for Aston Villa last season. Much better in fact. Would have been disappointed if we got Young.
