He bossed Denmark around, when Armenia won 4-0 in Denmark and he's good in FM13, we all know FM13 is used by scouts all over the world. + He was topscorer for Shaktar Donetsk, despite being a midfielder.

Apparently Dortmund paid Shaktar £25 million for his services, must be very good then lol :coffee:

Americans go mental if you undertip apparently, there's stories of people being chased down the street. To be fair though, those people are put on low salaries and told they make up the rest on tips so if they don't get the right tips it's like they're not getting paid in full.

Here's a brief outline from SS:

Arsenal have announced a reduced pre-tax profit of £6.7m for the year ending May 31.

The figure is significantly down on the £36.6m made before tax in the previous 12 months, largely owing to reduced profit on player trading (£1.6m from £26.1m in 2012) and an increase in the wage bill (£154.5m from £143.4m in 2012).

Turnover from football was up £7.5m to £242.8m while the club continues to sit on a sizeable cash reserve of £119.7m.

The renewed shirt and stadium sponsorship deal with Emirates, signed in November and worth £30m a year, will be accounted for year-on-year over the course of the contract while the club record signing of Mesut Ozil will form part of next year's balance sheet.

This doesn't include the new sponsorship deals which completely gulf the previous ones we had. I imagine we'll be breaking 300 million revenue next year when those come into effect.

Good to see that we're signing commercial deals with foreign companies to make some money out of our still strong popularity around the world. Lot more work to do till we're at the Mancs level but the signs are good.

i dont know if anyone else saw this but Arsenal are knocking off £2.50 off every away ticket from the palace game for rest of season. if you went to every away game from then to end of season in the league, you basically save about 60 quid. everyone else saves a few quid.

Tuesday Club podcast is out. Really funny one this week I thought.

Have we recently changed our drinks sponser from Lucozade Sport to Gatorade? Don't really care as long as it means more money for us, but it was odd seeing Flamini drinking a Gatorade during the post match interview.

I think so, i noticed it at the press conference aswell.

On this topic, confirming our suspicions we've just announced a new sponsorship arrangement with Gatorade today. 3 year deal, hopefully worth some decent money.

http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/club-announces-deal-with-gatorade

http://www.arsenal.com/assets/_files/scaled/696x392/sep_13/gun__1380184046_gatorade_arsenal_711.jpg

Our hand was forced a bit as Lucozade Sport have decided to withdraw from the football sponsorship industry all together.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2221627/Lucozade-end-Premier-League-sponsorship--Charles-Sale.html

With only Powerade and possibly Vitamin Water being the only other sports drink providers in the UK I don't think we were in a particularly strong negotiating position but still, it's good to see we're getting some money from this at least. I imagine not many other clubs would be able to get a deal right now.

Hopefully the next step is to get UPS or something to sponsor our training kit like the Mancs have with DHL.

GP
26-09-2013, 09:48 AM

Yeah I thought something like that might happen after Lucozade were sold by GSK to a Japanese company.

Could be though it seems the decision to leave the industry was made last year and the sale only happened very recently I believe.

Also, they've just announced the same deal with Liverpool today.

http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=308880.0

Looks like Gatorade are trying to build their worldwide brand and so being linked to two major clubs with global fanbases and support will be a good move for them. First entry into the football market I believe as well.

We better be getting more money than Liverpool though. Being in the CL, having more younger global support and also having the superior potential to be dominant in the future because of our resources should make us a much more attractive partner than Liverpool. :coffee:

This Arsenal has changed from 6 months ago, I really do feel that something special may happen this Season...

Perhaps I'm the only one, but I really do get an impression that the mood has changed in the Arsenal hierarchy, and that we are at the start of something major at Arsenal. I am becoming even more confident now that Arsene is going to make a few crucial and mindboggling transfers in January.

I think we'll get a better idea where we are once we've played 1 or 2 of the best sides, if we can get a win or two we could really kick on, defeat will show we're still short though.

Personally I think we need a couple signings in January to give ourselves a good chance, Wenger doesn't tend to like spending in January though.

McNamara That Ghost...

Defeat in one or two games doesn't really tell you anything in terms of the league, the people that try to make themselves oh so cautious by saying things like that, in the media, probably don't understand what it takes in winning games to win the thing. And plus the teams they talk about that should be ahead of us lose some of those games too!

I don't think we really need many more signings right now, I think a squad of up to 20 plus is too much. If we are signing anyone in January I would hope it is back-up players (unlikely to be anything else) or little bit talented young players.

Ollie the Optimist
29-09-2013, 07:21 PM
agree with all of that Maccy bar not needing any more signings. we need a striker, if rooney/suarez/benezema are gettable in january then we have to push hard to get them. we have cover in every posistion bar striker. theo and podolski can do a job, but if we could get a real top class striker in, we walk the league home.

McNamara That Ghost...

Well I did say presumably we are only talking in terms of back-up players, the likelihood of those being available in January is fairly slim I would say.

if united are still playing like they are now, i wonder how much rooney would fight to move accross to us if we put a serious bid in. same with saurez and benezma (who might not play as much now with bale there etc)

but lets not worry about what we could do in january or what happens when we play one of the top four, lets just enjoy it now. and since villa we have won every game we have played and now sit top of the league. long may it continue

seen some stories on twitter today (so not the most reliable) but apparently Diaby has refused his salary until he is fit again. So effectively onto a pay as you play deal through choice.

fair play to him.

Great player when he is available, but sadly that foul at Sunderland has shattered him, been broken ever since. I hope it works out, but we probably are all thinking that once he is back, he'll be out again for a few months in a few weeks

Well anything too over the top should be recognised by yourself really after you post it, I have had a few cases of posting something and then realising it was a tad ott and deleted/edited it afterwards. The post which was deleted was gold though, and meant in good humour  . Its certainly less strict now though, on the last board I got banned after posting one 'offensive' remark

... and moving on, Bergkamp says he wants to return

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BWFbLu9IgAAAvMj.jpg

Bergkamp: "The feeling Johan Cruyff has had for Barcelona, I have the same with Arsenal. It is part of my ambition to come back"
Bergkamp: “At Arsenal it was a good click. I always enjoyed it. I never had a bad day there. It is always on my mind."
Bergkamp: "I’ve spoken to Vieira and Henry who'd love to come back to Arsenal one day. Tony [Adams] is a big option as well.”
Bergkamp: "I don’t see myself as a manager. I see myself as being part of the coaching staff. I really enjoy that role."
Bergkamp: "I know I will be here [at Ajax] for at least another three or five years & then I don’t know"

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/8972587/transfer-news-arsene-wenger-prepared-to-keep-spending-at-arsenal

Wenger told Arsenal's official website: "The policy is exactly the same - I always want to bring the best players in here, world-class players, at the best possible price.

"Now we are in a more comfortable financial position, I - more than anyone - want the great players to play for Arsenal. If we have to spend the money to do that, I will spend the money."

"And I want to continue to educate 60 to 80 per cent of the squad ourselves. The culture of the club, the way we want to play football and the way we want to behave, comes from within.

"The (Jack) Wilsheres, the (Aaron) Ramseys, the (Kieran) Gibbs - these kind of players have to be the culture of the club.

"Then on top of that, we want to bring world-class players who will help us to be even stronger."
Responsibility

Wenger, who splashed out over £40million on Ozil, added: "It's a big responsibility to spend that amount of money.

"But I feel comfortable with it because we had the money to do it. Before, we couldn't have done it because we didn't have the money available. It's as simple as that.

"I had a huge sense of responsibility when we built the stadium to get the club through it without going bankrupt.

"The first years were difficult, and also explained why we lost some players.

"Now we are in a more comfortable financial position, I - more than anyone - want the great players to play for Arsenal. If we have to spend the money to do that, I will spend the money."
